I got served!
My son opened the door since I was upstairs and this guy made him sign this paper for me. It's a speeding ticket caught by a freeway camera!!! Yeap! They got my mug shot and all! lol! Phoenix is full of cameras and it's hard to travel 5 miles on a freeway without encountering one of those. We got the permanent ones and the van ones.
I'm usually very careful of not exceeding the speed limit (well, the limit plus the extra limit ) and I don't remember getting the camera flash! argh!
Is it legal to serve my son for me? He's only 17!

Woman drivers!
Yes, I believe it is legal to serve you through a family member at your legal place of residence. Not that I would know such things from experience or anything...

I think they're making big bucks in here. We have so many and I see them flashing all the time. I don't think everybody is paying them but now they're saying that it will go in your driver's record. I hate them too!

LOL - Don't feel bad we have the same crap over here in New Mexico. My wife got a speeding ticket that way and the son got one a week later from the same camera. When I wife got the ticket I was sweating it out thinking it was me in the Camaro at night but we looked up the video on line and it was her driving the Silver BMW SUV thru a red light. Busted her big time. She said she was late for work. They hammer you pretty bad on the fines out here.

Someone did something like that.
He got a photo of himself running a red light, and a ticket.
He sent a photocopy of a check.
He got a photo of handcuffs.
He mailed a check.

Ah, that's where I have to respectfully disagree. Especially when I've slowed down and come to a stop on the yellow, and someone comes around me and the rest of the vehicles from behind, at the intersection, to actually go throught the red light, and dodge the cross traffic. There are times I wish I could be the person reviewing the photos.

Some of them are good I agree. Specially the ones in the city. But the freeways? I think it actually causes more problems around here. Some people slam on their breaks when they see one and have caused accidents. I know people should drive far back and provide enough distance for this but some of this idiot drivers look at the cameras like if they're aliens! I'm not sure if they have saved us from accidents. I would like to see those reports.

Make sure to pay it. Once you have been served, it becomes a legal matter. When they just mail you the ticket, you can just toss it. If they serve you, you are stuck. You can either pay it or go to court. I hear that if you go to court and ask to face your accuser, they throw out the ticket because it is a camera. I do not know for a fact that will work. Plus, you have to put a value on your time.
Don't you hate those cameras? They are everywhere but rumor has it that our fine state legislators are working on a bill to get them all removed. We'll see!!!

Wow- that sucks- that's a lot of money for a speeding ticket.

Just another example of the government intruding into our everyday lives....at least with a live body..(cop) you have a chance to plead your case....Sorry....I would have really been upset if someone had left something with my 17 year old...

I don't mean to sound negative, but they'll remove the cameras when Satan skates to work eating a popsickle. Those cameras make a boatload of money and no politician wants to cut the revenue stream.
Watch, they'll table a motion to remove the cameras and end up agreeing to double the number or them.

No, not on the freeways. I missed that in your post. We don't have them around here, so it didn't register. We have good ol' fashioned bears in the grass, hemorrhoids with polaroids. I hate it when people see a police car on the median and they slam on their brakes when they're not even speeding. The whole highway backs up. People are just stupid.

I remember a few years back there was a radio station that organized a "slowdown" in Detroit, whee their listeners all went the speed limit during rush hour. It caused hours of gridlock and a bunch of accidents. Around here keeping up with the flow of traffic means at least 10 over. I'd be interest to see them try cameras like that in Detriot, id give tha average on less than a day before it got shot out.
