Training at your personal gym?
As trainers, whether it be freelance or contracted, have you ever trained at the gym you're a member of (like, your own personal gym)?
I know most top dog gym chains won't allow it, but some might let you do it if you pay the guest fee. I sure do get tempted because a lot of people have been coming to me lately, asking about what some of the machines do, or how to lose weight, and this just makes me want to prospect at my own gym. It would be great side money though...
I did it at my old gym, but the guys at the front desk didn't care, as long as I didn't go around glorifying it with the whole "trainer shirt". On top of that, the gym closed down.
Have you ever done this, or at least thought about it?

I train at my gym anyway (where i work etc.), i'm not a part of a regular gym as a paying member.
When i did used to go to public gyms though, i did get a bit of that. What you mentioned, the whole people coming up to you asking about **** and wanting advice. At the time i wasn't a trainer so i wasn't in the right position to take anything further, but if i was i definitely would've jumped at the opportunity to make money out of some situations.
As long as you don't go out of your way to make yourself look like some big shot and up yourself, and keep it casual and friendly and respect the people who run the joint, i say go for it.

Yeah, that's true. I think I'd be crossing the line if I advertised my services there, especially when they have their own trainers.
In all honesty, I don't think they're very professional. First off, they have a sign that says "Come train with one of our professionally LICENSED trainers". Second, most of the time, they're never in proper attire (jeans, etc.), and all they do is stick the obese people on iso machines. But, who am I to judge eh..
