30 Day Challenge for myself
Should probably do this in a blog type venue, but I havent ever done that. But wanted to put it in writing....
30 days......starting today....Hubby and I both. I challenged him, he responded with the consequences of failure. Here we go. Nothing complex. We know what we are supposed to do, just havent been doing it 100%.
Nothing but clean foods. (500 cal/day deficit...still cutting bf) I mean not one crumb of anything but clean foods.
Push workouts harder than I ever have. 100%.....I have used the excuse of being a beginner long enough. 4 days weight training with 15 minute HIIT Cardio.
Going to see what happens to the bod in 30 days. I have stalled out over the past few weeks. No visible or evident changes. So I am ticked off. Gonna do something about it.
Took pics and measurements this morning. Will post stats in bodyspace (sorda embarrassing).
Wish me luck. Gonna kick his ass.

Good luck to both of you. I am sure that having a significant other with the same goal will help in your overall progress. Iron sharpens Iron.

When i would low carb diet on another site we would build teams to do challenges.. some were dates like "30 days" or "6 weeks" some were to holidays like July 4th, Christmas etc. Its always good to have goals and even better for others to join you.

Good luck. It is great motivation when you are competing against a friend or in this case a spouse

It was my personal goal because I cant seem to string a clean diet together for over a week. You know, something always comes up that gave me a reason to cheat. So I said enoughs enough and told him what I was doing. He is just the opposite, he can eat clean, just doesnt workout like he should. So the challenge was born, with consequences.

Good idea. I think 30 days will get me rolling. I want to see what I can gain and lose in 30 days of doing it right with only failure being on the last rep. Just got finished working out so I got a head start on him because he is at work.

Percsption is 90% of reality. The pictures in your bio do not depict a woman that has let her health and physique go completely to hell. 30 days is a nice goal, but for life is a better one. The quicker you drop the weight the sooner it usually returns. If you take your time revamping poor eating habits the better your body becomes accustom to the change. It becomes a habit. The same applies to your physical activities. Do not limit yourself to the gym. Long hikes switch fuel sources from glucose to fats and this becomes helpful...and healthy. Power swimming builds cardiorespirory potential. HIIT will certainly increase endurance and stamina. Lifting weights helps to build muscle mass. All are variables to good health and using the calories you put into your mouth. Make this an endeavor for life and next summer you won't have to address the same concerns. Do not forget to maintain journals. They keep you honest and offer information for future goals. Good luck to the both of you.

As for my pictures...pre-2007 pics would show the bitter truth, or hell as you referred to it. Its only since 2007 that I have been fighting to get my diet back on track. It has been a slow journey but I am feeling great about it. I am now worried about only the small occasional bing, where before the diet was completely off. So your advice is well received and appreciated. The 30 days is to, force myself to make the change to completely clean foods, proper balance P/C/F and portions.
The weight lifting is a different story. I have never lifted heavy because I just started a few months ago. But, I am ready to do it. No more excuses. As for the cardio, especially the outdoor cardio. That is what I have always done, and love it. My HIIT training consists of sprints up and down a 100 yard hill. I combine it with occasional 4-5 mile runs that is routed along a hilly road.
As for keeping a journal, I am on it. Something else I will throw into the 30 days to make it incorporate as much improvement on lifestyle as I can. Plus, how can I prove I did all I said I was going to do if I dont keep a record of it.
Thanks again for your time to contribute. Its appreciated.
