Do Pre-Workout supps affect blood pressure?

My doctor said my blood pressure was up a little higher than it should be. I was just wondering if my use of caffeinated pre-workout supplements could be a cause?

    Thanks

I am coming to the conclussion that they do. I have the SAME problem man. Every time I take a pre-workout supp I feel some what dizzy during certain exercises (especially when I am sitting and stand up fast etc), and seem to get headaches more often. The bad thing is the headaches seem to be directly related to high BP, I can practically feel my head throbbing full of blood lol. Not sure if its the combo of NO boost + Caffeine or what, because caffeine by itself does not make me feel like that. Anyway I would just watch it, if it persists then cut it out. Good luck man!

I was always under the impression that No2 products actually decrease blood pressure. For pre-workout supplements No-xplode gives me headaches, the others don't.

What pre-workout supplement are you taking?? Might be another ingredient besides caffeine and no2 doing it.

I'm taking vasocharge. I forgot the exact numbers, my doctor just said they were a little high for somebody my age. He said it's nothing really to worry about, but I should just keep an eye on it.

I was just curious if N.O. products had an affect on blood pressure, and if so, would switching to a non-caffeine product help?

    Thanks for the replies.

caffeine can raise BP...so the answer is yes. i have genetically high blood pressure. also keep in mind that those who lift weights tend to have a 10 point increase in BP.

Another thing to point out to you guys worrying about blood pressure.

Just having it tested ONCE means nothing, it has to be tested a few times and within a certain time frame. I had 130/60 or so, then a month later 160/100 or something like that, then 2 weeks later it was about 130/60ish again.

Thanks a lot for the responses. I have been testing my blood pressure again and now it's consistently around 131/76, which I figure isn't too much of a concern. However, my pulse rate was at around 83.....kinda high?

Don't mean to hijack my own thread, but do pre workout supps affect resting pulse rate?

    Thanks again.

This is a symptom of low blood pressure (orthostatic hypotension), not high BP.

Probably nothing to worry about but yes, a non-caffeinated product would probably affect BP less.

They would if you took them before measuring it. It wouldn't affect it days later.

They should unless they contain some sort of glycerol derivative.

I took a some nano vapor other day (full free packet) and
afterwards I was lightheaded and dizzy. I have perfect consistent
bp and I checked it expecting it to be up but to my suprise
it was low. Never happened with no xplode though. I cut down
to a third of package and didn't have any dizzyness. Just my 2 cents.

this happened to me..i took No Xplode back in my noob days stacked with NitroTech and my heartrate went up to like 128/70..a little high but just take a pre-workout NO with no stimulants or caffeine like PlasmaJet, Mesomorph or Ragnarok and you should be fine, may actually decrease bp.
