Unhappy lose weight, keep muscle mass? is this right way?

hey everybody, i was reading on a flex magazine that tha best way to lose belly is to do cardio first thing in morning on empty stomach.

today i woke at 8, had a cup of coffee and went for a loght jogg/walk in the woods. it was tough!!
they say if you run on a emoty stomach ur body loses fat as energy cos u have no carbs for fuel, but will this eat at my muscles??

    whats yer views on this?

do ye have alternatives ways to lose weight but keep muscle mass? thnaks

I don't know 100%. I have talked to a lot of people though about catabolic effects. I don't think it'd be a good idea to run on an empty stomach because your insulin levels drop drastically overnight when you are not ingesting anything (you still burn as you sleep, just not as much as awake.) I take a protein shake before I go. I've read guides saying you should eat approximately 60%/40% slow digesting carb to protein ratio before workouts and 40%/60% fast digesting carb and protein ratio. I hope this helps, I'm on here trying to figure it all out too so...

I've never really done cardio on an empty stomach. You'll hear conflicting opinions on it. For me what works best is switching up most of my cardio to intervals, tabatas, and sprints and keeping my protein intake very high.

cool thanks for all advice for me i feel doing light cardio on running machine at a incline at 3-5 miles a hour works well as ur body taps into fat cells mfor energy.they say that growth hormones after weights taps in to fat cells for energhy this true?

as far as cardio on an empty stomach goes, ive heard conflicting advice but most of what ive heard from the more reliable people do not encourage it b/c they say it'll make you lose a lot of muscle mass. they actually made it a "topic of the week" on here awhile back im sure you can dig it up. but if you just have a protein shake b4 you do it you should be good to go.

side note: intervals for the mother****ing win. mix in some longer steady pace lower intensity sessions occassionally
