    What is considered to be more impressive, 405 front squat or 500 squat?

    the way i see it

    405 front squat --> 500 back squat

    but 500 back squat doesn't necessarily --> 405 front squat

    therefore 405 fs > 500 bs

    405 front squat more impressive?? ehhh... maybe wouldn't go that far, but definitely less common... less people train the front squat, so to work up to 405 would be impressive in it's own right

    They squat in a very different way though, very close stance, knees over toes, high bar, atg, slight pause. Any case the 405 front squat is a lot more impressive for about anyone.

    My best back squat is 510, my best front squat is 370. So personally I'd have to say 405 front squat is more impressive

    it really depends what the person trains for.

    many olympic lifters cant back squat 100 lbs more then they front squat... but most powerlifters cant front squat 100 lbs under their front squat. I'd be lucky to front squat 200 lbs under my back squat, but then again i cant rack a front squat to save my life and i despise front squats with a passion so...

    you guys are probably the exact opposite of me though, I'm almost all quads even when I back squat; being PL's I'm guessing its much much more glutes and hams and almost no quads hence the low (for you) front squats

    my squat is quad/lower back dominant.. i could probably front squat a **** load if I could rack a front squat right but i just cant figure out how to... squated 505x1 with the bar on my traps completely ass to grass beltless after squatting 505x8 with my normal form...

    My front squat is 295x5

    Would you guys say that's proportional? Oly squat I've done 385x3.

    front squatting for me is very uncomfortable, maybe its because I'm still pretty big but its just doesnt feel right when I do it. I want to start adding it into my rotation though

    you could try the straps grip if you can't do clean grip
