So over the course of 3 weeks I lost 5 pounds. The past two days I've only been able to eat sandwiches, which upped my carb intake and I'm back up 5 pounds on the scale. Does this mean that all the weight I lost was water?

why the F*CK are you even asking this!??!!? do you REALLY think you just gained back even 4.5 lbs of fat b/c you've been eating some sandwiches? geeze man...you said it yourself you upped your carb intake so obviously your body is just reacting to carbs.
sometimes i just wonder about people and their lack of logic :/

.. read my paragraph again I didn't ask if the weight I gained was fat. I was asking if I had lost any fat in the past 3 weeks or if the weight I lost was just water-weight. There is a big difference. Plenty of logic here:
- Before dieting, pretty high carb intake at 200 lbs
- After 3 weeks, 196 lbs at low carb
- 2 days of sandwiches, back to 200.
How can you tell what you lost was fat?

it's really hard to tell with knowing so little. OP should be giving some more info. did you JUST start dieting 3 weeks ago? over those 3 weeks what did the mirror show? 5 lbs over 3 weeks sounds too steady to be water weight, typically water weight is all gained/lost within the first week of introducing/severely reducing carb intake, after that it levels out. if you're constantly taking carbs completely out and then going heavy on them every few days, then you're asking to have a headache when it comes to the scale.
in the end IT DOESN'T MATTER. just go BY THE MIRROR.
