How much weight did you guys start squatting and deadlifting with?

I was curious as to how much weight some of you started out with when learning to squat and deadlift, also bent over bb rows. How much weight do you use now, how long did it take to progress to where you are now, and also what increments did you increase the weight in? The reps and sets you do/did would help also. Thanks

I started squats at 3x5x185 when I got my power rack. Before that I had done some high rep sets wth 135 maybe 4-5 times, picking the bar up, putting it over my head, etc.

When I started deadlifting first workout was 3x8x135, 2x6x155, 1x4x175.

I had been deadlifting for a while before starting squats.

I started squatting a little over two years ago, at that time i was squatting 2 plates for 10 reps for quarter squats.

A few months later i realized the error in my ways and i started proper full squatting. I coulnd only get 95 lbs for like 5 reps. This shot up quickly though.

As for deadlifts, i started deadlifting wih like 275x5. But i had been training for a while, just no deadlifting. (again about 2 years ago)

i started lifitng whne i was 16 and would just do like 4x15 with 135 for squats to master the form. My first max was like 225 lol. My dead lift i also did like 135 for high reps to get my form down. But i maxed more around 250-260.
    It's time to get NASTY!

I was never serious when I started in 2006. Got serious only recently (all thanks to BB.com).

    Old lifts:
    Squat - 120
    Rows - 60
    Deadlift - 90

New lifts [as of Jan 2009]:
Squat - 300 (weak because of my lower-back)
    Rows - 150
    Deadlift - 300

When I started out I hired a PT who'd make me do high rep stuff [15+] so I never really got stronger. After a few months, I started reading more and started going heavier. I stuck to the 10-12 rep range.

About 5 or 6 years ago, I started squatting with 95 lbs. I actually worked the pyramid, increasing weight and decreasing reps when I started squatting. I think I made it to 2x185 my first squat workout, so I had a good foundation before I ever seriously squatted. I was doing leg press, leg extension, and leg curls until then.

A year later, I started deadlifting. I started with 95 lbs again, and think I was doing 155 for 4-6 reps at the top of that pyramid. Grip was my limiting factor at the time. Squat had built my core.

When I started squatting and deadlifting about a year ago I could squat 50kg for about 10 reps and deadlift 40kg for about 10 reps or so. Rows I think I was at 30kg or 35kg for 10 reps.
Then from September-June I was due to university confined to a very mediocre gym with no barbells and relatively light dumbbells. Now I am back in a proper gym and my stats are this:

    Squat: 3x119kg
    Deadlift: 2x162.5kg
    Row: 3x95kg
    Strength + Speed = Power

If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?

I started lifting about 4 years ago, lifted crappy for a year. then good for a year and ended for at

    5x5 at 325 parellel squats
    and
    5x5 at 345 deadlifts

Then I took a while off about a year and a half and lost everything lol.

So I started back in in February 09.
    5x5 205 parellel squats
    5x5 295 deadlifts

    Muscle Memory ****ing rules!
    last month
    5x5 335 parellel squats
5x5 350 deadlifts but form was off a bit.

    This month
    5x5 255 atg squats
5x5 345 deadlifts with strict form.
Do not demand that which you cannot take by force.

Ex fat guys club. From 345 to 225.

I've been lifting for a while, but I've only just started doing lower body 2 months ago. In that time I've gone from 175 x 5 to 245 x 5 on max ot. 8 or 9 leg days added 70 lbs on the bar. Not bad.

My squat is now higher than my 230 x 5 or 6 bench (I've been benching for years of and on). The bench is actually probably a bit higher because I always do it after Incline.

    Same here.

Use the bar, add 10lbs a week. When you can only just do 10 reps with that weight, you've found your starting weight.

Maybe it takes six months to get there, but we're working out for a lifetime, so what.

I started squatting with 70lbs and deadlifting with 90lbs last November. I had never done either excercise and never really worked my legs at all beyond running before that. Initially I was increasing the weight by 10-20lbs per week but slowed to 5-10 lb increases per week after about a month. Now I'm at 3x5x200 for ATG squats and 5x310 for deadlifts...

some bizarre dead/squat ratio numbers here.

anyway, im still a noob. was lifting with dumbells at a lameass wellness center for about three months. just under two months ago i joined a more legit gym that had barbells and a power rack and started a simple full body routine. although ive taken the last two weeks off when i was on vacation and then got sick for a week after that.... stupid planes.

but i started off with the barbell training at an embarrassing:

slightly below parallel, wider stance, low bar squats: 85 lbs 5x5
    conventional deads: 135lbs 5x5
bent over bb rows: 125lbs 5x5 (a bit proportionally high? almost as much as my deads, second heaviest lift lol, and yes strict form, no rocking, or momentum inducing movements)
standing over head press: 65lbs 5x5
    bench press: 115lbs 5x5 (lolololol)

    a month and half later:

the squats: 135lbs 5x5 (wow, super shocked myself at that amount of improvement in such a short amount of time)
the deads: 155lbs 5x5 (only 20lbs vs the 50lbs squat increase? *scratches head*)
    bentover rows: 135lbs 5x5
    the press: 75lbs 5x5
    bench press: 135lbs 5x5

my squats are only the real impressive improvement. 10 years of playing soccer 7 days a week maybe helped out their excessive responsive ability? *shrugs*

well there ya go. my first post. hello bb.com.

No roids. I remember benching 140 x 5 back in march without a spot and on the 5th rep nearly dropping it on my face just barely getting it into the safety rack. I've worked hard for everything so far

Im in the same boat, After 2 months i decided its time to get the big three as a part of my workout (Already had bench...of course). I performed first deadlifts today and trying really hard to get the form correct so therefore did very little weight (45 kg). How did it go for you?

Squatting: About seven times less then I can now.

DL: About the same seven times less.

Lets take into consideration that for growth numbers are just a way to increase the force needed. There are numerous ways to increase the intensity without going up in numbers however the easiest way by far is to go up in weight which is why it is done. That is my view anyway.

Exact numbers will not be shown for they can cloud ones mind.

    Keep lifting good luck!
