Any fans of Smart Balance PB?

    You know, this stuff:

Well I have been a big fan of it for a while and LOVE the fact that you can just keep it in the cupboard instead of the fridge. Well, recently there have been some posts about other "natural" products and I decided to give the Skippy a try.

Whoaaaa. MUCH better tasting than Smart Balance. It reminds me of the regular PB taste, you know the stuff that contains trans fats? But this is trans-fat free.

And for those of you who want to compare the ingredients here they are:

    Smart Balance:

    Ingredients
PEANUTS, NATURAL OIL BLEND (FLAXSEED AND PALM OILS), SALT, MOLASSES

    Nutritional Information
    Serving Size 2 TBSP (32g)
    Servings Per Container 14
    Amount Per Serving

Calories 200 Calories from Fat 150
    % Daily Value
    Total Fat 17g 26%
    Saturated Fat 3g 15%
    Trans Fat 0g
    Polyunsaturated Fat 2g
    Monounsaturated Fat 12g
    Cholesterol 0mg 0%
    Sodium 110mg 5%
    Potassium 190mg
    Total Carb 6g 2%
    Dietary Fiber 2g 8%
    Sugars 1g
    Protein 7g

    Skippy Natural:

    Serving Size = 2 Tbspn
    Calories per serving: 180
    Total Fat: 16 grams
    Saturated Fat: 3.5 grams
    Trans Fat: 0
    sodium: 150 mg
    Total carbs: 6 grams
    Dietary fiber: 2 grams
    Sugar: 3 grams
    Protein: 7 grams

Ingredients: Roasted Peanuts, sugar, palm oil, salt

I can get my omegas elsewhere.

I may even try that new Jif natural stuff too!

I have tried both, I have skippy natural sitting in my pantry right now.

But i'm going to have to say that I like smart balance wayy better. skippy seems too sweet to me, and I like the subtle saltiness that the smart balance peanut butter has.

    Just my two cents .

Though I'm a sucker for any chunky peanut butter!

Smart Balance for me. There is only so much you can do to peanut butter. As long as there isn't hydrognized oil or a lot of sugar and sodium i'm fine.

smart balance reminds me too much of fish oil.

As far as natty PB's go I usually stick with Naturally More PB (walmart and lowes food carries it) or either the grind it yourself at some food markets.

I bought the Smart Balance peanut butter once. It was alright. I liked that it didn't really separate, which is because of the palm oil, but the flax oil gave it a kind of funk.

I agree - I bought this sht and was like "cool omega fatty acids". I opened it up and got hit with this SMELL. Fckin FLAX OIL... GROSS.

Seriously i have taken flax oil out of the bottle before... shots of it because A) it's good for you and B) its a great anti-inflamatory. Those were some of the most disgusting moments of my life.

This Smart Balance PB reeks of flax and it's fkin gross. I will never buy it again.

Smart balance = palm oil... I'll pass. I get this really tasty red-topped container from trader joe's. It has toasted flaxseeds, separately roasted and cut peanuts, and flaxseed oil. I can't drink flax oil, and I never remember to take my pills, but this stuff makes the pb delicious and kicks up my EFA intake.

It's probably the flax oil going rancid. Once it's exposed to air, the timer starts. Most people keep their peanut butter out on the shelf, so that's just going to make the timer tick faster.

I think it tastes nasty. Yuck.

I like Smuckers natural; more of a hearty, solid texture.

Also, Skippy Natural is pretty good - just added palm oil to reduce seperation, so it has the consistancy of "regular" peanut butter.

I bought a jar of the new JIF Natural (similar to Skippy's with the palm oil), but I like Skippy's the best. The JIF had a blander taste, probably due to the reduced salt.

Agreed, by far the best tasting and best profile natty pb available. I go through one jar per week.

I tried Smart Balance once but it was very dry and lacked any semblance of taste.

I understand Naturally More is kind of hard to find in certain areas though...I've only ever found it in one particular Walmart. None of the grocery stores or even other Walmarts carry it...

I didn't like the taste of smart balance at all and skippy natural has some added sugar in it that is pretty noticible when compared to normal natty pbs.

Uh, mine doesn't. I'm staring at the jar right now:

    Ingrediants: Peanuts, salt.
