I plan on joining, but I've gotten advice to go for the Air Force and be a Radio Commissioner(something that sounds like that) = faster promotion vs footsoldier = better pay.

im in the army and yeah i wish i would have went AF.. mainly cause of all the bs we have to put up with... but you get tons of money for deployments
i know you havent experienced the military, but Metal what are saying is completly wrong....
First of all footsoldiers have the fastest promotions rates in the military, because of its a combat arms MOS.. somebody working with radios isnt going to get very fast promotions.. its all in how fast you accuire the points needed though.. and combat arms points are way lower...
second of all better pay.. yes maybe after you get out of the military.... but pay is according to your rank.. a E-5 in Special Forces will make the same amount of money as a E-5 sitting behind a desk...

I just want to say thank you guys, for being the better person and doing something that I (being honest with myself) don't have the ambition to do. Alot of people are giving the soldiers alot of flack nowadays, but thats BS.
Thanks You

good to see you're joining the army. just make sure you're priorities are not to use it for college because a lot of people our age use it for that.

you should look into a commissioning route too, like ROTC or the Academy. you can get your school paid for, and go in as an officer. You'll get paid more and chances are have a better job. I'm in Air Force ROTC, and it's great. I get paid to go to school, and I'll be a 2LT when I graduate, with chances to fly planes that you can't get as an enlisted member.

Bad Idea!
Are you sure of the rules in Canada? Fo the US military, being a high school dropout disqualifies you from enlistment, until you earn your GED - and then the standards are much higher.
Plus, trying to get into a special forces/ops unit as a dropout is likely extraordinarily more difficult, if not impossible. (Do you really think Special Forces is looking for Quitters?)
Not trying to insulting you, just hopefully knocking some sense into your head.

For some fields, it's grade 10, but the majority is high school graduation.
Seriously buddy, complete high school, if you think doing work at high school is tough, I doubt the military is the career option for you.
And I also suggest doing time with the reserves FIRST before you ever consider signing a contract with reg force ahahah

finally bro
infantry, your equipment rides you
armoured, you ride your equipment
You're going to have to do your BFT every year to stay qualified....it's a 13 km march at an above moderate pace with your rucksack packed to annex j on your back.
I dunno, maybe i'm a bitch, but i like the idea of cruising inside of a cougar.

A year goes by fast. I didn't mean to sound as if saying it was hard for you. I was saying just stay with school since its easy and only one more year. Once you finish then join. In the long run you will be much happier that you stayed in school one more year. Your country isn't going anywhere.
There is plenty of time to serve. And you spend that extra year training also.
