Bulk or cut?

i know it's not conventional to cut than bulk but has anyone done that? like when you first ever get serious about lifting?

I decided to shed all my fat first but i think i really should of bulked first to have more lean muscle mass to burn more calories at a base rate level.

Anyway can anyone elaborate on what they did and the pro/cons of cutting first then bulk and vice versa

I would only cut first if I was monstrously fat. If you start bulking first your muscles will start showing out more and people won't even really notice the fat. If you cut first, you'll just be skinny, and people will definately notice that your skinny.
