my gyms squat rack has very long safety arms about 2 feet off the floor so if you do get stuck you can lean backwards/or forwads and rest the bar there while you safely gtfo.
The closer you are to failure, the closer you are to victory, all depends on how you walk the line.

Hi Jimi. I've seen two different types of squat racks. One has adjustable bars on the side in case you get stuck at the bottom. If adjusted correctly, you just get down a bit lower and let the weights rest on the bars on the sides. The other one has pegs in the front. For this one, you could, if you can, go forward and rest the weights on the pegs.

If I go all the way onto my hunches I'm still about 2 inches from the safety catches, so I would only have to sit down on my @ss and it would take the bar. I also use the smith machine too, but someone broke the damn safety catches, so I guess I'd have to let er fall...
