I know i am an odd ball but brown rice in my humble opinion, as i have tried preparing it, is awful. I would rather throw myself in front of a car than eat brown rice(slight bit of overkill). Yet for whatever reason i drool over white rice. I mean i love the stuff as much as one could hope to love a grain. I have this wonderful little rice cooker at home and I dunno if you have any advice i would love to hear it. I have always heard brown is better but never really heard anyone do a side by side comparison?

most brown rice calls for you adding a certain amount of salt to it. are you doing that? Small change but big difference in taste. You could also add soy sauce to it, white rice with soy sauce is crack to me so when i eat brown rice i do the same and its almost as good.

Well for one you said you have a rice cooker, does it have a setting for brown rice? I have a Sanyo rice cooker that cost me about $100 and it cooks brown rice perfect every time but you have to select the brown rice setting. Also you need to make sure to use the little plastic cup that comes with the rice cooker to measure your rice as usually the machine's 1 "cup" is not equal to the US measurement of 1 cup.
The way I make my rice is by using half chicken stock and half water for the required cooking liquid. For my weekly meals I make about 2 cups (uncooked) rice in my rice cooker and brown up 1lb of ground turkey and spice it up with some chili powder/cumin. Once the rice is done I mix it with the ground turkey and stir it up in the pan, I add another 1/2 cup of chicken stock to help mix some of the spices into the rice. After all is said and done it makes about 5 cups of cooked rice/turkey. I usually eat 1 cup with a packet of tuna mixed in for lunch.

I think brown rice is delicous, but you can this: after boiling it with some spices, drain it, and throw it on a skillet for a bit, and fry it till some parts are cryspy... mmm
