Pretty cool huh? First poster. I'd love to actually have one of these.

I think it says 1993 on here somewhere. I was a freshman in HS and did not know about this. What was your UFC IQ in '93?

i watched alot of the early ones, alot more interesting back then since the rules lacked, there were no weight classes, and it was tourney style. Old UFC > New UFC IMO

i wanted to download and archive all the events but that would be about 2 TB of info

I think I watched it around 1995 then quickly caught up. Then I stopped watching them around UFC 8. I don't remember the exact details, but a friend of mine always got the DVDs.

I was 15, and I watched it as soon as it came to the video store. I was freaked out that it would be really bloody and violent, and I wouldn't be able to watch it.

It was awesome. I didn't like Royce at first, and I think I called him "a little monkey" because I had no idea what BJJ was. When he won I was blown away. Needless to say I was hooked. Watching every video as soon as it came in because a ritual with a few of my friends.

I wanted to learn BJJ from that point on. I looked all over for someplace to learn, even when I went to college. Couldn't find it anywhere. Now I am 30 and they have a good school 30 minutes from me. For whatever reason, (mostly because I have so much else on my plate) I just haven't thought about getting started.

Was this the UFC where a fat dude said he fought in his own style? It was his name is either a "fu" or a "do" added to the end. He then got beat down right away. Lulz.

There was an early episode of Friends where Monica's boyfriend (Jon Favreau) decided he wanted to be an Ultimate Fighting Champion.

That's when I became aware.

i think that was ufc 2, lol. The weird guy (who had a "jesus is lord shirt and carried a cross to the octagon) got the guy in a guillotine with the other guy in side control...the other guy then starting punching him in the f*ckin balls like crazy to get out, roflmao! I just saw it a few weeks ago, was hilarious

are you talking about Joe Son and Joe Son Do?

he was one of Kimo's guys and he got his balls bashed in by Hackney.

I missed UFC 1, but I was able to attend UFC 2. It was a 16 man tourney. The bloodiest matches were in the first eight fights. Some dudes just didn't belong in the cage. Lol. A home town favorite, Pat Smith, was submitted by none other than Royce Gracie in the final match. Good times
