Asymmetry (specialy concerned about lat)
Hi
I have been working out for some time now (2- 3 month in a row). Also i have worked out before to at home and I was a boxer for about one - one 1/2 year.
I have asymmetry all over the body evry right thing is bigger(specialy chest shoulder and lat). This may be conerned my past activity as a boxer ore the fact that i am right handed ore just maybe i did some exerc. not in a good form
I did some kind of a mass program(trained lats on lat machine) before and noticed that my right shoulder and lat are getting more bigger than the left. And now i always feel my right side(shoulder + lat) more contracted than my left(witch i dont fell contracted at all).
2-3 weeks ago i had a shoulder injury.
Now i am making a fat loss program and gona finish it soon.
I have a large waist bone and i need to develop a LOT of lats and shoulders. In fact my next mass program will be dedicated mostly to lats(a lot of rows and pull-up ),but if they continue to develop asymetricaly it will be a big problem.
Now I have read on other threads that u can do DB vs barbell and some strech to improve your symmetry.
Do u agree??.What do u think i should do for my lat and shoulder asymmetry problem??
Apart row and pull-up should i do lat machine to??
P.S:I know there have been a lot of posts regarding asymmetry but didn't see any regarding lat asymmetry.

dont know what you do during the day but if you are right hand dominate it may be part of the cause. besides that youalready mentioned what your problem may be. try and ensure you have correct form and get a good mind muscle connection. it sounds like your right side is doing most of the work. dumbells may help you correct this but i would reccomend keeping your reps and sets and weight for both sides the same. dont do more on one side than the other . anyway looking at your avi it does not look like you are extremely lopsided so dont sweat it too bad lol. good luck breh

Actually i can chane most of the Barbell ex with DB but what kind of ex should i use dor the lats... The lat machine gives me a big contraction in the right side .. i think pull ups to somewhat .. I need to know because when i will go to my mass plan this is crucial as i will be doing a lot of lats and shoulder ...

Perform offset grip/towel grip pull ups(ie: 1 hand on the bar & 1 holding a towel that is wrapped around the bar)
You can do unilateral lat pulldowns. Set up like you are going to do Bi-lateral( both hands-normal) lat pulldowns. Lower the intensity(load). Pulldown with one side at a time. Alternate between left & right. Concentrate on driving the elbow of the working arm down and back into your side.

I did a sort of unilateral lat pulldown it sucked..I didnt fill it enough and if i would increase the weight i'd have a bad form so i dont like it very much but will consider it anyway

I think everyone is a bit assymetrical to be honest. Most of my left side is bigger (I'm left handed), although that doesn't hold true for certain muscles or parts of muscles (different heads of triceps on different sides are bigger lol). Video tape yourself and make sure your form is good, but beyond that, I'd say don't worry about it.

The problem is that after i do the lat machine i feel contraction mostly on my right lat ..should i continue this way (if i have a good form)..
Is pull ups better than lat machine to have a more symmetrical lat??

i think everything has been mentioned already except one thing...genetics, (maybe it was and i missed it).. if youre like me, its a lost cause trying to even out, i.e. more muscle fibres on your right and a wayy better mmc. ive been working on doing everything with my left hand for the past 3 years and im still off. just me 2 cents...bit negative, but its been a rough evening lol
