hangover question lol
random question here......
so last weekend we went out to celebrate birthday/anniversary...and we dont party much..so we went all out..needless to say i got drunk as hell....now back in the day...i didnt get hangoves..and i did drink water before going to bed...
well my hangover lasted for 2 days...i have never had that before!!!!!! and my husband said well maybe it shocked yoursystem cause instead of ice water and cottage cheese your downing long island iced teas and tequila shots...which makes sense.....
so do you find that when you are healthier, your body reacts WORSE to drinking then when you were not so healthy?
i have never in my life had a hangover this bad..
maybe im just getting old....i turned 25 on monday lol

I find that ever since I've gotten healthier, leaner, etc. I definitely can't handle alcohol like I used to. The last time I went out and drank with friends my body didn't handle it well at all. I was hungover for a least 2 days afterwards and just felt crappy! I'm not sure exactly what it is, but yes, personally I feel the healthier I am, the harder it is for me to not only handle my alcohol but to also recover from it!

Happy birthday!
I don't tolerate alcohol as well as I used to. I'm sure it's mostly due the fact that I don't consume it as regularly.
The good thing is that it makes you a cheap date (depending on how you take that ). Bad news is that you have to learn that your old controls no longer work and you'll probably have to go through some experimenting to find balance again. I used to be able to drink pretty much whatever so long as I had a glass of water between drinks. Oh, and I'd take headache medicine pre and post alcohol binge. Now I seem to have a 2 drink limit if I want to be half way functional/not annoyed with myself that I drank the night before. Fortunately, I'm at a point where I'm generally disenchanted with the idea of getting trashed, closing down the bar and staying up until the sun comes up so it's rarely an issue. LOL

There's a lot of crap in alcohol and mixers, it may not be just the alcohol. So it's kind of like going to McDonald's You may want to look around for more "clean" drinks and of course, drink less when you do imbibe.

Happy Birthday first of all!
Second, I definitely notice my body does not handle alcohol as well anymore, although I can tolerate beer and my scotch, any sugared drinks leave me feeling wrecked for a long time. At my graduation party, I was drinking cosmos all night..then had to pack and move out of my apartment before noon the next day...lol..not such a good scene.

Happy Birthday!
I am right there with you! My hangovers are terrible if I drink these days! I definitely can't drink as much as I use to! I usually have a Vitamin B tablet when I get home after a night out and it seems to help a little! I always try to do the glass of water in between drinks but somehow it never happens!

Vitamin B12 got me through my college drinking days! I've kind of always been prone to really terrible hangovers but I think a lot has to do with the TYPE of drinks you're having. Like someone said, sugary drinks are an awful idea and I've noticed dark beer can create a pretty bad hangover for me. I can usually do ok drinking vodka&tonic with lime... anything clear basically. But I also have to make sure I remember to occasionally drink a glass of water and I definitely have to eat before the end of the night... going to bed drunk on an empty stomach doesn't do well for me!

my hangovers are terrible and that's even after 3 drinks (vodka & soda water) but I've learnt very quicly that BCAAs before you start drinking and after you finish drinking decrease the effects tenfold!! It's all about keeping your electrolytes in balance and your body completely hydrated.

Go ahead and laugh... works though. (4) Flintstones chewable vitamins crushed/powdered into a 32oz Orange Gatorade bottle. Drink and enjoy! You can toss in an asprin or two as well!
