Pick up some Echinacea.
Also, keep using the vitamin C and Zinc.
Feel better soon.

ginger, garlic, honey and lemon...
chop up the ginger and garlic, bring a bit of water to a boil in a small pot. Turn the heat down and throw the ginger and garlic in and let it simmer for a while. Strain out the ginger and garlic chunks and add honey and lemon.

^^This does wonders.
Another thing that I recently found to work :
Take a Tbsp, put a pinch of salt in it
Cut up a lime/lemon
Squeeze onto the salt and fill the Tbsp
Swig it and gargle a second or two to let your throat get coated.
^^I know it sounds sick but the Thai people swear by this...worked for me, and I had a serious infection too.

the minced garlic should be OK but you really should get some actual ginger. If the market is definitly out of your way then ginger powder will be OK.. But if you do go to the store, you might as well get a clove or two of fresh garlic..
As far as how much lemon and honey, just cut it in half and squeeze out as much as you can from one half.. if you want, you can do the other half too but one should be enough. As far as honey, maybe a table spoon or so.

There's this tea called throat coat that works okay too. They should have it at the regular grocery store.

I agree with the honey suggestion. Honey is a marvellous food and anti-bacterial as well. You can also put it on wounds for faster healing.

thanks for all of your great ideas guys....
I went home and made the ginger, garlic, honey and lemon tea that Kelton suggested.
I would have to say i was abit hesitant to drink it at first, but no word of a lie it cured my sore throat straight away.
shame now i have a head cold, and i am reluctantly on antibiotics to fix up my sinus'.
But once again thanks for all your great suggestions

Honey is the best! Especially the non-store bought kind. It also makes a nice moisturizing mask.

My mom does.
I also found some at a store near my house, it basically has no sugar or anything added to it.

cool, I'm glad it helped. Actually, that concoction works works great for colds too.. whip up another batch and see how it works.. Add a bit more garlic and omit the green tea so it'll make you drowsy. Bundle yourself up and take a nap.. You'll wake up feeling much better.

I'm sure you're better now, but...
Oil of oregano - gargle/swish and swallow.
GSE (grapefruit seed extract) 5 drops diluted in water - gargle/swish and/or drink.
Both are natural antiseptics and act to boost immune system.
Cheers! :>

Honey and tea.
But when I was 11, my very village oriented herbalist wannabe grandmother gave me rum or whiskey or something. It burned but definitely did the trick >.>
