At the powerlifting stations at my gym they have the normal plates, then they have these colourful ones. What I don't get is that the colourful ones say, for example, 25 but they are just as big as the normal 45 plates. I don't get it are they actually 25 pounds? or is it kg? I know this is dumb haha

example you want to deadlift 95lbs then the plates will be as high if you are dl'in 135, haha i dont know they are as the weights are listed..im sure theres a logical reason that a pl'er or more intelligent person could tell ya but it doesnt matter

Yes, red is 25kg = 55lbs
blues are 20kg = 44lbs
yellows are 15kg = 33lbs
etc

Not a dumb question. If they don't say "kg" on them, I see how you could get confused

bumpers are usually used for O-lifts, or any lifts where you might drop the bar from a high distance above the floor.

I can promise you that 99.99999% of the time if you have a red, rubber-coated plate that says 25, it refers to 25 kg.

use it for hang cleaning/deadlifting so you can have the clamps + the weights without the clamps touching the ground before the plate does.
ex - if you are hang cleaning or dead lifting 25 lbs on both sides, the clips will get in the way.

always use clips son.

The pictured collars are also 2.5kg apiece, which makes them kick ass for anyone who doesn't want to buy fractionals.

At my gym we have them for cleans and deadlifts and they are 25 lbs., so yours could be too
