Hey all that follow my journal. This past saturday I lifted in the 2010 MD states pl comp this was my 3rd comp.
I weighed in at 89.6kg perfect for the 90kg class. my last comp back in feb 2010 I weighed in about 218lbs so I was about 20lbs lighter this comp. Anyway for the lifts
Squat 1: 167.5kg, 370lbs good not to bad
squat 2: 177.5kg, 391lbs good felt easier than first
squat 3: 187.5kg 413lbs no good lost it cause i went to far forward comming up and couldn't recover so the spotters caught me about half way up I prob should have got it but whatever.
Bench 1: 97.5kg, 215lbs good no prob with this one
bench 2: 102.5kg 225lbs good easier than first got a better handoff with this one
bench 3 107.5kg 235lbs good had to fight for this one this was a meet pr by 2.5kg
Dead 1: 177.5kg 391lbs good peice of cake good opener
dead 2: 1877.5kg 413lbs good I think i set up wrong cause i brought the bar up lopsided so it was kind of a grinder
dead 3 192.5kg 423lbs good this went up pretty good if my 2nd one went up better i would have tryed for more this one. this is also a 2.5kg meet pr .
total 1050lbs
So I went 8 for 9 with 2 meet prs, acctually technially since this is my first comp at 198 class they are all prs for this weight. I am very pleased with my progress since feb. I lifted 19lbs less at 20lbs lighter. This total was apparently good enough for 3rd place in the 198 class, I was told this after because I had to leave early because I needed to pick up my kids and I didn't think I was in the running for any placing but I was wrong and I should have stayed oh well. I would like to thank BodyBldgPwrLftr for helping me with warmups. He also lifted in the 198 class and took 1st in the class and I believe wone best lifter I am not sure his total was 1350lb or there abouts sorry man I don't remember the exact weight. but he is a strong mofo. Thanks for following along everyone I am not sure when the next comp will be I have a pretty busy schedule the beginning of next year. My wife will be in a internship 5 days a week so I will be stay at home daddy during the day and will be working 3 or so nights a week . I will still be lifting just don't really want the added stress of peaking for a meet and what not I might look for something in the summer or something. I'll try and keep up with the journal more . Oh and for the surgery its not till wed so I'll let yall know how it went after wed.

new routine and surgery results!
Hey all who may still be learking around, I have not left the building yet. Ok for some updates.
First off I had surgery this past wed before thanksgiving to have myleft eye removed. I was not having anyproblems with the eye I just had it done to get a prostetic eye that didn't hurt. The surgery went well with no problems. I got the bandage off yesterday. I have to wait about 2 months or so to get the prostetic made so I am going to be sporting the no eye look for a little bit .
As for diet and trainning. My wife wanted to drop some weight since she is unhappy with where her weight is right now so we both started the paleo diet the on black friday and so far so good. I have really been looking into this way of eating for a while its just hard to do when everyone else in the house is not. Since we are both doing it we can support each other. So far I am liking itI am trying to eat around maintaince cals around 2800 give or take with majority of my cals from pro and fat and carbs from a little fruit, veggys and sweet potatoes post workout.
For lifting I have decided to give Max OT a go, I was looking for something that would give me some decent size gains while keeping and increasing the strength that I have. I also like that the workouts are short and sweet so I have more time with the fam or whatever. The lifting schedule will be : mon: legs, tues: chest and shoulders, wed off, thurs: back and traps, fri arms and abs, satand sun off I may change to a 5 day split in jan but for the next 4 weeks this is what I will be doing.

comments: I did workout last thurs and fri but can't remember exatly what I did. I felt great these 2 workouts this week not sure exacrtly what i am doing to have my lifts go up from last week but I like it. Still on the paleo diet and feeling pretty good. Weight still around 198 but def leaning out so got some kind of a recomp thing going on. I am still at a maintance level for cals, with most coming from fat and protein. my wife really isn't so sure about the diet cause she is always saying she wants pizza and other junk food that is not on the diet. don't get me wrong I love a good pizza just want to give the first 30 days a honest try. then after maybe throwing in some cheat meals on occation to stay saine.State of Maryland Registered Massage Practitioner

Are you talking about those shoes with the toe holes, like kind of like gloves? I've wondered how they are for DLs, and whether or not they're legal for competition.
Also, nice numbers overall lately, and specifically the sumo pulls. How have you liked them so far?I'm striving to do the best I can with what I have.

Yeah those are the onesI am pretty sure they are leagal I don't see why not. I think they are as close to bare feet as your going to get. As for the sumo pulling I am liking it pretty good. Its kind of a narrower sumo my shins are about inline with the power rings give or take. and I should also say that both the RDLs and sumo pulling are done with a belt and straps. I know I'll prob get some flack for using the straps but whateverjust really focusing on working muscle groups right now and not so much movements. I do do all warm ups with sumo with a double over hand grip up to about 300 or so so not to bad . I don't plan on doing any comps for a little while so not to worried about it.

comments: not sure what was going on with the deads today the weights just felt heavy for some reason. I think I may have been setting up wrong or something and maybe fixed it a bit when I droped to the 315 sets.
