I,ll make this short..
If a 120lb guy was to increase his weight using food and weight gainers. If he managed to increase his weight up to 160lbs in 3 months. Guys this is a example..If he managed to increase his weight up to 160lbs.
Would he still have to continue using weight gainers to KEEP and maintain that body weight or could he stop completely and go back to food and protein Only No gainers??
Im asking this as I know a guy who thinks its no point gaining weight using weight gainers as once you stop using them your body weight will start to drop low..
Is this true..
Thanks

Gainers are quick simple calories to add to a diet that allow you to eat more as well. So basically I eat 5 meals and I'm full but I need another 500 calories, add gainer, get the calories, put on weight. The more muscle you put on the more your maintenance increases. So you will have eat more food, but you don't by any means need to get that from gainer. Its all about total intake, if you are able to get your basal calories without a gainer, then you won't lose weight. Otherwise, either eat more, or yes use the gainer.
Current Max
1RM Deadlift: 175kg (385)
1RM Squat: 150kg (330)
1RM Bench: 121kg (266)

Your weight won't drop down overnight... and if you continue to eat at maintenance and exercise your weight will stabilize.
Gainers are merely a way of getting excess calories. So to maintain you don't NEED a gainer, just make sure you're eating enough from food and protein shakes if you need it.
It's really all about finding out how many calories you need to maintain though.

no, as long as he replaced said calories from the gainer with equal from food choices, his weight would maintain. A gainer is really just calories, therefore maybe with whole foods his health would improve. Weight gainers don't just add a magical weight that must be maintained with said product. Hope this helps
