Opinions wanted from the nutrition knowledgables
during yesterday's grocery shopping I found a product called 'a cup of oats'.
4 serves to which you just add boiling water.
I thought these will be great for that quick afternoon meal so I grabbed a packet.
The info stated on the side of the box per serve states
Energy 241 Cal
Protein 6.3g
Fat-total 6.4g
-saturated 3.8g
Carbohydrate 38.9g
-sugars 12.4g
Dietary Fibre 4.3g
Sodium 39mg
Potassium 168mg
So.......is this a decent choice or is it a marketing ploy on an otherwise 'healthy' product

Too much sugar. I would rather do the plain oatmeal plus a scoop of protein powder for almost the same calories but much better macros

seems sugar is the common enemy here,I thought the saturated fats might have been the problem.

I'm not saying the sat fat sat is good, but the sugars are what I like to keep limited in my diet.
For me limited sugars and more fat gives me results I want in terms of physique and performance. But I don't think you need to be concerned with that amount given your weight and all, it's no biggy.\
I know your always looking for fast convenient ways to eat healthy, but as someone already mentioned why not eat reg. oats w/ some protein or pb added.

Just a quick dash of perspective for you, Geoff. That 12.4 grams of sugar is about 3 teaspoons per serving. I'm not saying it's good or bad, just that's something you can compare it to if you were to make it yourself.
Saturated fats are not the enemy. You need them for your Testosterone production.

Most people see the word fats and think the same thing. Fats and cholesterol can be a natural bodybuilders best friend. Take out your old biology or chemistry texts and compare the back bones of steroids and fats/lipids. Amazing close in structure...total calories are more of a problem then fats.
