    Show me some variations of Rippetoes.

    I have been following Rippetoes Starting Strength since the first of the year. I am ready for a change. I am getting bored and feel like I am stalling. Could you show me some variations of his program?

    This program was not designed to have variations. There are accessory exercises that can be added onto it, however modifying the plan in any way is not suggested (by Mark) and would make it not a Rippetoe program.

    If your looking to change it up and want to continue strength training, check out anyone of the 5x5 programs.

    Actually, Mark would encourage a 48 yr old person who has been on the program for 6 months to start making changes. True, you couldn't call it Mark's program anymore but if the program has been run correctly for that long, it's time to make a few changes.

    +1. If you really need a change from SS, then go to Bill Starr's 5x5 or Texas Method, something like that. SS is not meant to be changed (even with the row variant in place of cleans that many do regardless of what Coach Rippetoe's plan says).

    By the way, have you really done SS consistently for a year? Congrats if you have. What kind of progress did you make?
