Burning Through the Baby Fat
Hello All,
I am trying to loose weight from recently having a baby. My question is at the end.
Right now I am stuck. I have been at the same weight for over 2weeks. I have not changed my diet/work out either.
I eat 1200-1000 calories per day and try to eat less than 15 grams of fat per meal. I also take Alli 2-3 times a day, usually lunch and dinner. I have found that if there is very little fat in my meal (like breakfast) it really makes my stomach hurt.
breakfast 90 calorie special k bar
lunch 260-300 calories of either Organic, dairy free burritto or spinach and feta pocket
dinner remaining calories of 1 cup brown rice, vegitarian chicken pattie or rice/bean pattie, veggies, or fat free potato chips. I also use a fat free ranch and hot sauce combo or ketchup for a condiment.
sometimes i eat a skinny cow 100 calorie ice cream bar
I have been increasing weight during my trainig sessions and i am getting stronger. I also am able to push much further in my cardio work outs. With two small kids it is hard for me to get a good work out in everyday so, i try my best to weight train 3 times a week and to atleast 90 minutes of cardio a week. Usually this means I take two days off randomly through out the week. My work out/ cardio routine must be flexible. It is impossible for me to say every Monday I will do this and Tuesday that...etc...
Why I am I not loosing fat??????? I was doing so well in the begining now, i just maintain this weight!!!

more calories, more calories, more calories! ESPECIALLY at breakfast! 1000-1200 is too little, plain and simple, and you trained your metabolism to slow down into starvation mode. Its grabbing onto every calorie for dear life and not letting you burn them. Its science... its how humans evolved and their bodies survived during famine. I bet if you shocked your body with a really high-cal day, and then let your low cal days be between 1400-1600, you would be surprised with the results. 1400-1600 for 2 days and 1800-2000 every third day.
in other words, EAT!!!!!!!!!!
You don't lose weight to get healthy. You get healthy to lose weight.

Taking Some Advise
Well, After the very thoughtful advise of two members I have started adding more healthy calories to my diet.
Yesterday, Monday, was my first day adding more calories to my diet. I must admit, somewhat embarressed, that I was exceptionally stressed out and all too emotional about adding these calories. After lunch I was brought to tears thinking of the additional food I had consumed. However, I feel that there are many factors playing into my tears...menstration, exhaustion and feeling defeated. i worked so hard to only eat my previous amounts.
This morning I started with a whole grain cereal and milk...much more than the special k bar and water. lunch will be a spinach and feta pocket, and dinner will include a chicken, vegie and rice. I will add a protein shake in the evening. My husband is on here also, in the mens parts, and he knows about protein and stuff. lol, all i know is i like the way it tastes.
Good training news...i was able to increase my weight and maintain good form. Today I feel sore, but, i love it! This evening is a cardio day.

Still eating more...
Breakfast: 90cal bar
1 cup cheerios 100 cal
1/2 cup 1% milk 50 cal
lunch non dairy/organic burrito 270 cal
snack raisins 130 cals....still working my way through the box lol!
Last night was good, my cardio work out was much better than expected. There was no way I would escape my house with out the girls so I loaded them into the double jogger and incorporated/adjusted cardio plans. It started to rain on the way home, so about 2 1/2 miles out I got a good run home! I was exhausted but it felt good. I would highly recomend the jogging strollers to any mom. They arent ideal for running but, they are awesome for a jog/fast walk.

Hi! Congratulations on the baby! You are off to a great start however I have one question and or suggestion. Do you like egg whites or oatmeal? If so, I would try incorporating those types of food into your breakfast..I know for a fact that after an hour I eat cereal I am hungry again (in other words it does nothing for me )!

Success...even just a little!! :)
Hello All,
I am so excited this morning, I did my moring weigh in and I was 2lbs less! I have been waiting so long to break into the 160's and I am finally there!
Last night's dinner: Chicken breast
roasted potatoes
green beans
TODAY
Breakfast: ceral bar, 3/4 cup cheerios, 1/2 cup milk
Lunch: Raisins, burrito
I had a very mild work out last night. Some light Pilates for about 20 minutes...
Hey, and for any other mommies on here....My almost 3 year old made her first little neighborhood friend last night! I pushed my work out back a day to watch them play together. It was so cute!
Today I have my strength training and if I can get a babysitter long enough I will follow with a cardio work out. Speaking of which, I better call my sister!
Thanks for any of the advise...I would love to hear more...??????

New Day
Last night was not my best dinner
Bagel w/ lowfat cream cheese
apple
protein shake
This morning I weighed myself and it was 167, I know my weight goes up and down about 3-4 lbs so I am not going to get too excited....yet! lol Is this normal for weight to flucuate daily? Does anyone else experience this?
My work out went well. I increased in all of my movements.

My weight can fluctuate up to five pounds in one day. Ain't no thing! Weigh yourself at the same time every day. I always weigh myself first thing in the morning.
Good to hear you are adding more healthy calories into your diet. Have you checked out any of the things in the recipe thread (it's under nutrition and dieting)? There is some really great stuff there... most of it is high-protein, low-to-moderate fat, and low-to-moderate carb which is what you want and need.
Also, you might want to incorporate more healthy fats into your diet, like nuts, peanut butter (the natural kind only, though... the rest has weird oils and sugar and other things), and olive oil.
Best of luck "burning through" your "baby fat" -- I'll keep following along
My glass isn't half full, nor is it half empty. It's just a glass. And I'm damn glad just to HAVE that glass at all!

Good weekend
Hello all,
I had a good weekend...eating was healthy and at my calorie count. My work outs were strong. I was able to increase as scheduled.
I tried some new cardio routines. I hate to admit that i borrowed a friend hip hop abs...not to much of a work out so i followed with a good jog.
today i just got back from my first spinning class...wow! it was awesome. I am very excited about how much i enjoyed working that hard! Unfortunately, I am not able to join the gym...responsibilty trumps gym membership...we need a new air conditioner and are purchasing a new vehicle this month. But on the bright side at least i can pay per class and my husband has filled my basement with hammer strength equipment.
PS...i lost one more pound. And I have been taking the weighing advise and weighing in every morning when i wake up.
Thanks everyone!

Great advice however with the natural peanut butter...I don't really agree. There is a thread on peanut butter and honestly its all the same..
