Actually moderate-high GI carbs (with some protein) as your first post-w meal would be optimal.

You know, Wild One, fat-free refried beans out of the can taste pretty damn good, especially with some melted cheese on 'em. Oh, yeah, back to the point. I'm not sure what the GI of these type of legumes is, but I would imagine that it's higher due to the structure. The fact that the original grain/fiber has been modified and is not in tact as normal legumes would be leads me to this conclusion. Therefore, I'd say they're okay, and would suggest the fat-free variety.

thats a good question... i have a big can of those sittin in my pantry right now and ive been tryin to figure out the GI of them... someday im just gonna break down after my workout and reward myself by eating the whole thing (only like 350cals)
i would love to know what the GI of these are... although like bachovas said, they could be a nice complement to a protein shake if taken post-workout

I really don't think you guys should be so concerned about eating these. Like I said, while they're probably not as good in a physiological sense as whole legumes (i.e. great northern beans, kidney beans, etc), they're far from being "crap." You could do far worse, I'm sure.
Now, Wild One, I highly doubt you're going to get to 6% JUST because you're eating refried beans, but go ahead have some, bro!Unstoppable Confidence
