Things to look for when joining a new gym?
Hey guys I got a job in the big city which means I gotta find a gym close to work - luckily there are 8 gyms in walking distance! I'm planning a day to check them all out and was just wondering whats the most important stuff to take into consideration when joining a new gym?
Obviously I gotta look at equipment and lockers.... what else?

I'd ask for a free week at each and get a first hand impression. Then it's a matter of cost and what kind of contract they make you sign.

I think environment is very important.
For example: the gym I go to has an old, hardcore feel to it. There are some big guys that lift there, and they allow chalk. : )
I would train at a hole in the wall gym any day rather than a commercial gym that doesn't allow chalk or let you deadlift.
Like someone mentioned, try to get a free week at each and see which one fits your needs.
Good luck!

Hey guys I just joined a really awesome gym, its got a great atmosphere with really helpful people. Not many women around (i expect that they get intimidated by the hardcore men) but it's still cool, I get on and do my own thing... feel ugly compared to the hotness in there sometimes ooo-weee!
