    serge nubret's workout

Does anyone have any idea how Serge Nubret workout? I know that he was known to use very little rest and high reps, but does anyone have a sample of a workout routine similar to what he used while he was competing?

He did have a very proportioned and ripped shape, didn't he? Put those bigger guys to shame...
Anyways, back to the question. Like you said, Serge incorporated mostly 'isolation' (with some compound like Bench, Squat and Deadlift) exercises with high reps (15-20) and relatively heavy weight which exhausted his muscles at the end, and short rest periods to keep burning fat. Remember he was in his prime in the 60's/70's, where they had basic machines.
But he didn't always use low weight/high reps. He started off with the typical heavy weight/low reps scheme that seems to be popular today. Then he found what 'style' most suited his physique.
And that's what I recommend you do. Don't jump into an accomplished bodybuilder's training program and sell your body short. Do what feels right for you.

Good post. Take time and experiment with months of consistent workouts, see what results you get, then move to a different style of workout for another few months and see if that type is better etc etc

Thank you for the information. I will be trying some of his approach as I have used mostly heavy weights and need a change.

Just as food for thought, it is often Serge's amazing upper body we all remember, but his leg workouts for which we talk about his routine. He was known to use routines like those described below, but keep in mind Serge's weak point WAS his legs.

So all the 20 sets of 20 reps stuff that he used to talk about might have been interesting and may have helped him, but perhaps not the best model for success either.

Again, though, of the virtually infinite number of variables that affect your success and routine, Serge's ideas are hardly at the top of the list unless you're his son, also huge, and eating 10# of beef /day.

Hi guys , actually Serge Nubret is in hospital for an hypoglycemic coma probably due to a malfunction of the pancreas , but I never heard about his death . So I guess he's still alive but very sick
