I'll begin by saying that I've had my conceal carry permit since March and I carry absolutely everywhere that I legally can. Wallet, keys, phone, gun is my checklist for leaving the house.
Anyway, on to the story:
A buddy and I went up to the batting cages for a bit and we came back into the city to go play some basketball and we stopped at a Lukoil Minimart to get some drinks. My buddy's windows on his car don't work so he just leaves them down and locks stuff inside the glove box. We went in, got our drinks, and when we came back out to the car this big ass dude with a ponytail was leaning into my friend's car. He saw us and stood up (he had a paper bag in his hand) and:
Guy: "Why the **** did you leave your car running when you went inside, are you retarded?"
The car wasn't running, it was the AC unit right next to it.
Friend: "It wasn't running, and my windows don't work. There's nothing important in there anyway."
Guy: Says some other random ****, then tells us to "Get the **** out of here."
Friend: "I come out here and find you inside my car and you're telling me to get the **** out?"
Meanwhile the dude was just standing there next to the driver's side door so my friend couldn't get into the car. The guy wouldn't move. At this point I'm standing by the rear driver's side tire. The guy starts to get belligerent and he walks over and puts down the paper bag on the curb and turns back around and I saw that he had a knife clipped to his belt. At that point my hand was behind my back and under my shirt fully on the grip of my carry piece. My buddy turned and looked at me, and realized what I was possibly preparing to do if this guy got violent. He managed to get the door open and was standing inside it, and I moved around the back of the car. He got in and shut the door so I walked around the side of the car and I was like "Dude, you need to chill out." and I got into the car. He leaned to the driver's side window and goes "Hey, **** you." He looked at my friend and goes "No, not you, I like you." Then he looked at me and said "**** you." again lol. We started the car and left the drunk to his wanderings.
It was weird, the guy was probably in his late 20's/early 30's, pretty jacked. He was wearing clean clothes and he wasn't all ratty so maybe he just had a bad day at work. Who knows. Regardless, my heart was beating pretty fast by the time we drove away. Things could have ended a lot worse if that jackass had drawn his knife or tried to throw down.
Sorry, wall of text.

conceal license is so dope.. unfortunately in cali it would prolly be bad.
Cliffs for everyone:
-OP and friend go into minimart to quench thirst
-OP and friend come out and find a drunk guy near car
-OP sees guy has knife, so he gets ready to pull out gun
-Friend gets in car and OP follows
-Drive away, heart beating fast

what if the other guy had been with his buddies? What if they all had knives too? THIS time he might've been okay without the gun, maybe not, but you never know when you leave the house. Gun beats all, I'd rather have em in the hands of law abiding citizens, than have them walking around defenseless and in fear of the low lifes who will inevitably carry them

You a stalker dude? You mad cause I called you out for being a white knight? Get out of my thread *******.
Yeah man I got punked out by having deadly force at my disposal and chosing not to apply it to someone who was no longer a threat. I guess I shoulda fuked his **** up right? I shoulda shot his ass up while we were drivin away right?
Idiot.
That was a typo, i meant to put paper lol. I edited it.

I'm glad to hear that you didn't have to use your firearm.
If he had pulled out his knife and began to approach you, you would of had no other choice but to use deadly force.
Sounds like you handled the situation quite well.
I've had my ccw license for 4 years now and have not been any situation in which I had to use my pistol, thank God.

Yeah it's definitely not something to be taken lightly...It's not the movies. Even if you are COMPLETELY justified in shooting someone, you still have miles and miles of legal bull**** to wade through after the fact. I seriously hope that I never have to fire at someone for any reason...but I'm still going to stay prepared to just because of that remote chance that it might happen. As they say, it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
If the guy did draw his knife I'm pretty sure the gun would have come out. I probably would have given him a second or two to reconsider because I had put some distance between us but my friend was also right next to him and at risk...Tough judgement call to make in a split second.

So you're telling me there's no violent crime whatsoever in Australia, huh?
It has nothing to do with having a complex. Over 2.5 million crimes are prevented every year by law-abiding citizens using firearms. 6850 crimes per day.
Why would you feel threatened by the fact that I carry a gun? What is wrong with it if I want to? Exactly who is being harmed by the fact that I carry?*NY Yankees Crew*

Yeah dude cause fighting people who have knives is smart. Definitely makes you a bigger man to fist-fight someone with a blade. Anyone who willingly goes into a fair fight in a real life situation is an idiot. Go away, troll.
