For the past month, I've been waking up at least 3-5 times a night, due to needing to urinate. I really feel like this is ruining my quality of sleep, as I use to be able to sleep 8-12 hours straight. Not sure what's causing it. Days where I drink a lot of water, 1 gal+, I'll wake up at least 5 times. I've tried dehydrating myself for a day, and I still got up twice that night (barely any urine came out). I never had this problem before. Would Melatonin be a good solution to help me sleep through the night?

It may be stress or anxiety. I find myself having a really hard time falling asleep if work is stressing me out or if I have a lot of stuff on my mind.
I'd give melatonin a shot, it's non habit forming and you won't wake up feeling all groggy like you took a sleeping pill or Ny Quill. If melatonin doesn't work you can always go see a doctor or go to a sleep clinic for insomnia.

smart move seeing your Doctor on this issue. Too bad he couldn't figure out where the issue stems from. I often wake up during the night myself having to urinate, but I've come to the acceptance it's age related
Melatonin is great, non habit forming. Gaba is also good. How's your water intake during the course of the day? This may sound strange, but if you don't drink much during the day, your body may actually holding onto water, and thus may attribute to your issue. The best way to flush our excess water in your system believe it or not is with more water. Something to think about.Cut Goals/Actuals Phase 1:

None. Xtend has potassium citrate though, although it does not list the specific amount.
Water intake is at about 1 gal or so. I really thought drinking too much was the culprit, which is why I tried dehydrating myself for a day. It definitely helped with the amount I got up and urinated, but nonetheless still woke up twice that night. It really sucks, use to be able to make it 12 hours before waking up needing to urinate.
haha, im a 1 hitter quitter. so i do know that it would help. however.. drug tests for the lose.
my biggest fear right now is that im developing some case of insomnia due to waking up because of the urge of urinating. sometimes i dont even urinate a good amount. it'll be like, 5 fl oz. then i really get pissed off, thinking about how sensitive my bladder is being and why the fck im waking up so much!
really hoping gaba or melatonin can help me just crash through the night peacefully.
edit : another thing that may be a culprit is, im fairly new to drinking so much water. i use to drink on average maybe 8 glasses a day, however doubled that the past month. i read a few posts indicating that it takes time for the body to get use to such amounts of water. but in doing so, even on my dehydrating experiment, still the problem lies. im thinking that perhaps my bladder or mind for that matter is being extremely sensitive.Last edited by Lee_manG; 06-07-2009 at 07:21 PM.

great topic. Lee_manG I'm having the same problems. I wake up at least two times at night to urinate and it really ruins my sleep. It has started a month ago as I started using ON Whey, Scivation XTend and nowadays I added Animal PAK, Animal Flex and Animal Pump to my stack.
I train at 20:00-21:00 and I drink about 2 liters of water around and in my training session with Scivation Xtend. I take Animal Pump half an hour before training. And I take ON ZMA before bed. ZMA Helps me sleep better but it did not stop my night bathroom visits.
Have you tried GABA or did you find any solution to the problem?
Thanks.Last edited by mavisakal; 10-13-2009 at 05:12 AM.
