    Question Muscle memory

Good day! I have had about a year long break from training due to an elongated hospital stay. I have lost 5-6 pounds of lean body mass and went from abt 12% body fat to 24%. I had about 5 years of training in and now my 1rm's have dropped by about 50-60%. Will I be able to recover my losses in both muscle mass and strength fairly quickly training muscle groups and major lifts 2x per week? Going from 0 excercise for a year I feel that it's reasonable yo expect I can put on mass while in a calorie deficit at least for awhile. Discuss...

compared to however long it took you to get to your peak previously it will be a lot quicker and easier this time.
I suggest you start off with a novice level routine.

It'll come back faster this time for sure, we keep the nuclei from satellite cells for quite a while (that's the slow part of hypertrophy), so you should gain back fast. I took like 6 years off and it only took me a year to get back to my old loads, so just a year off, you'll be back up in months I bet.
