I am on the road to recovery as well. I am about 7 weeks into therapy (L5/S1). I'm healing nicely and am still VERY paranoid about reinjury...subbed to see other comments.

Dude, I am SO paranoid as well, I don't ever want to go through something like this again. How did you injure yourself in the first place ?

I was doing stiff-leg deadlifts. I wasn't using heavy weight, just felt a little catch in my back but continued with my set (of course). It took me 6 weeks before I gave up and went to the doctor.

That's just about the same for me but I was doing regular deads, continued on with my set as well(STUPID) and now I'm finally getting better, I've been doing a lot of stretching and PT exercises and they've helped out a lot so far. Good luck with your recovery.

i have two in my lumbar and one in my cervical and they healed fine. they will never be 100% again but they are probably 90% or better and i have little to no trouble with them most of the time.

I think disc's can be improved with frequent movement, and proper ergonomics, but I suspect there will always be a weak spot, prone to sciatica or whatever.
