Matty_b_bop...to continue our intelligent conversation from the closed thread...
I went back and copied our posts....lol.
Topic...discussing where HOT begins on a scale of 1 to 10
I originally wrote:
I agree with you...but I think hot starts at 8.5. Here's why....
As a man of science and numbers, I strongly feel that rating a female an 8.5, top 15 percent of surveyed specimens, the female subject would have to be extremely better looking than other females in her OWN enviroment. She probably would be stuck in your head considering her environment...and when I say environment I mean city, college, etc.
To be a 9, the female would have to be better looking than other females in her MOST enviroments.
To be a 9.5 and above, the female would have to be better looking than other females in ALL enviroments....which is like finding a unicorn.
As the rating goes up, the sample population also increases, thus decreasing the chances of achieving an 9.5 or better. This same logic also proves that there is no such thing as a perfect 10 because the environment keeps getting bigger...ie the universe. We all know the universe is forever expanding, so the sample population has no limit.

Matty's reply...
ol, i see what you're saying.
here's my anaolgy:
let's relate it to school and to social life.
Let's say you have two peer students. One student, student A, studies a lot, while the other, student B, does not. Let's say they both get the same grade on a very difficult exam (an 82%), but student A studied hard, whereas student B did not and simply had some luck guessing. Student A will naturally be disappointed because of all the effort he put in only to get a B-. Conversely, student B is pumped because he didn't do **** besides play WoW and surf the Misc and still managed to get a B-. Student B is more excited about the B- more than Student A because student B didn't put any effort into getting that B-, or 82%.
Now, let's take this and covert it to social life.
You have someone like student A that gets a lot of chicks, whereas student B does not. Since student A gets more chicks, he isn't as impressed towards certain chicks like student B is because Student B is a virgin and not very experience with chicks. So when Student B sees a chick that's really a B-, he freaks out thinking like it's more than that because he doesn't get a lot of chicks, therefore acting like said B- is more like a solid A. Now, Student A, on the other hand, gets his fair share of chicks, and thinks that B- of a chick isn't very special and sees her as just that, an 82%.

My reply to Matty's response
I like this explanation! Your analysis is definitely backed up with evidence too. Everyone has a buddy that doesn't very much action, but when he does...and most likely with a 4.75 or below, her rating doubles.
In this scenario, your buddies girl can never be a 5, because doubling it would make her a 10...which we all agree does not exist.

This is to settle the everyday fukking threads about "What is this girl rate out of 10?" threads.
The MISC needs to have a standard of measure.
Feel free to add your own opinions.

i dont think you can say that there are an equal amount of tens as there are ones. There are about
6% are 1's,
8% are 2's,
12% are 3's,
15% are 4's
25% are 5's
14% are 6's
11% are 7's,
6% are 8's,
2.5% are 9's,
.5% are 10's

This scale we are discussing needs to apply to the MISC.
Please don't discuss specific females, but females in general.

Everyone uses the scale differently. Therein lies the problem. Traditinally its meant to be a percentile representation. So 7 is in the top 30%. 9 is in the top 10%. So according to that logic 1 in every 10 girls is a 9. Doesn't seem quite right does it?

yeah man i dont think percentile representation by eqaul intervals of 10% is an appropriate method for this subject.

correct. a 10 does not exist, only because no one person is perfect.

not me per say, but there are people on here capable of slaying many women. that wasn't the point of that post, though. just meant to be an analogy, no hidden meanings.

see, this just doesn't have to do with Miss Eason, though. this is with all of these types of threads on here.
in going along with Eason, I personally don't find her image favorable to me because I like a girl that has more curves in all the right places. I don't want a girl that has a dude's body.

Here's the mistake with the OP. A random sampling of girls won't turn up 10% 5's, 10% 6's, 10% 10's, etc. The distribution will be Gaussian in nature, as are most natural phenomena. There will be more 8's than 9's, 7's than 8's, etc.
Now the question arises: the domain of the hotness scale is bounded within [1, 10]. How do we reconcile this with the fact that the Gaussian distribution is defined at least on the whole of the reals, namely in the domain (-infinity, infinity)? Simply cutting off the tails of the graph seems rather arbitrary to me.
I propose the following solution. A score of 10 ought to represent all women who have a score of 10 and higher. Thus a 10 doesn't represent perfection, and their may in fact be one 10 who is hotter than another. This rings true with our intuition that true perfection is 1 in a million or less (or altogether nonexistent).
Now we are left to manipulate the following equation to fit our data.
A generous sampling of women ought to provide us with enough data to fit the curve properly. A normalization and translation of the curve to give an average value of 5 will also be necessary.

i sucked at stats in college - my least favorite course, actually (and I like math). i wish i would have put more effort into it.

Nice work...I am not going to lie, I am engineer and I did take a very in depth stats class.
I understand the logic of the unequal numbers of 7's 8's etc, but I am not familiar with the equation.
I like where is this is going!
