I work in a gym that has 4 managers. Granted, the managers are ranked, but in the eyes of a line employee, a manager is a manager.
My supervisor (NOT my boss - I am second in command, and this dude is in no way my boss) is the most passive aggressive person I know (ex: he won't approach an employee who's taking an extended break. He will just dock their timecard and wait for them to ask what happened when they get their check), he doesn't defend or stand up for the other 3 managers when a staff member is talking **** or saying really out of line comments, he gives us all backhanded compliments, and he has no interest in developing any of us. In fact, he will let us do something wrong for months, and then randomly state the way that we were supposed to have been doing it. I can't count the number of times that I've said "Oh..well how was I supposed to know that if nobody told me?"
I'm venting because I had to fire 2 of my 3 employees in the past week, and these two should have been fired long before I got there. He was their boss before my position was created, but he never writes anyone up for anything. So, all of a sudden, this new (and considerably young) chick comes in and starts laying down the law. This makes me the villian, so they run back to him and call me all kinds of nasty names and whine and complain. Never once has he stuck up for me. In fact, today, after employee #2 got fired, he went into an office and called me - behind my back - a "black amazon bitch." I mean, he's right. I am black. I'm also very tall. And I call him on his ****...so I guess I'm a bitch.
All my supervisor said was that he was being insubordinate.
Um...EXCUSE ME? Whatever happened to "you shouldn't speak of any other employee in this building in that way" or "that type of language is completely inappropriate"?
I wish he sucked less. The good thing is that I am at this gym to help phase him out. So, we will all end up happy
What about y'all's supervisors/bosses?
