Pre-workout smoothie

Hey Ladies!!

I've been reading a lot about post workout carbs but some of the information out there is really contradicting. I've only really started to concern myself with post and pre work out meals/shakes. I've started having a protein shake with some mixed berries post workout....Today however, I feel like I messed up...I arrived an hour early and I ordered a ''fat burner'' smoothie, basically it's grapefruit juice + half a banana + a handful of mixed berries and then had my regular protein shake after my training session. I am worried that the smoothie hindered my workout and all I did was burn the calories I just drank...(as opposed to working out in a 'fasted state') I feel like I've had too many carbs! I'm so confused and I'd really appreciate any help/advice!

Everyone's opinion may be different and it is obvious that no two bodies are alike, but here's what I do:

Pre-workout, I have protein and complex carbs or protein and fruit. This could be something like a protein shake and oatmeal or a fruit and protein smoothie (protein powder, berries, or whatever other fruit I want in it, and ice).

Then, post-workout, I will have pretty much the same thing.

It works out well because you get energy before your workout and optimum recovery afterwards.

I don't personally advise working out in a fasted state, though some people believe it is a good idea. The smoothie you ate didn't hinder your workout; just add some protein to it next time.
