I'm basically on the same boat dude so I'll help you out. Basically the only way for you to get the abs to show is losing fat overall, because there is no such thing as spot reduction. However, if you do more ab exercises, you can make the abs stand out more, but to truly get them to shine through, you'll need to lose that fat layer.
There are many ways to do this. The three main staples of bodybuilding are working out, nutrition, and sleep. One without the other will be detrimental to your goals. Since you're trying to lose fat, you should be lifting weights, especially training large muscle groups to exhaust your glycogen stores. The best way is to do them right after the other without any breaks and super-setting them (google for more information). When it comes to cardio, anything that gets your heart rate up will suffice, search up target heart rate. For nutrition, you want to be counting calories. There are a lot of diet plans and macros out there, but in order to lose fat, you'll have to eat in a caloric deficit, which means you'll have to eat less calories than you burn. In general: Calories you should eat = (Basal Metabolic Rate) + (Calories burned from working out) ? (Caloric deficit you plan for weight loss). And of coarse, get your 8 hours of sleep in. Your body is getting results when you're resting, not when you're in the gym.
A little broad, but hope this helps you get started and good luck!
