How To Lose Layer of Fat Over Abs?

I only weight 145 lbs, but I have a layer of fat over my abs. Its not a lot of fat but its enough to pinch up and to be noticeable. My last ribs also stick out so the fat makes my abdomen stick out further than my chest.

How can I get rid of the fat?

I did read the sticky. If I didn't have abs I don't think I would be posting this and asking for help.

You're going to have to diet and workout to get rid of the fat. You can't spot reduce fat. Just hard work and dedication.
A year from now, you’ll wish you started today.

    LOL @ the filet knife.

That area for men is like the banana roll for women...you're gonna have to lose more fat to get it down. Make sure your diet is in check. The ab fat will be the last thing to go on you probably and it will be pretty hard getting it off, but it can be done. You're gonna probably have to tweak with your workouts an diet at the end to trick your body into letting go of that last little bit of fat. Make sure you're eating a little under maintenance, doing weights, maybe throw in a bit of cardio when things slow down from the other two. Try these things little by little and milk all you can out of them as far as results, then try something else. After that, you might have to mess with calorie or carb cycling (or both), changing workout routines and intensity, supplements, etc. It doesn't matter where the fat is, because like everyone says you can't spot reduce, so you just need to focus on losing some fat off of your whole body. You do this by burning more calories than you eat (cardio, diet). Raising your metabolism with weight lifting keeps the balance in check and is necessary. Also make sure you're eating enough protein. It's pretty simple, it just takes work, time, and the patience to put them in.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're going and hook up with them later.

that little layer of fat might not be as much "fat" as you think. It may be a little extra water that your retaining between your skin and muscle. Try drinking a ton of water minimum 4L but id say more, than taper down your water intake over the next couple days and dehydrate yourself. I do this every once n a while to see where im at cause its difficult to know how much water is being retained. Keep in mind not to be dehydrated for long periods of time, it should be a very short bout just to check in with yourself!

wow, lots of threads on this, but I'll repeat, that areas is often caused by increase cortisol levels. So stress and a lack of sleep. Like others have mentioned. It really just takes hard work and a solid diet.
