Transexuals (MTF) in Women's Bodybuilding
Okay this is a spin off from another thread. What are your opinions on transgendered persons entering women's bodybuilding? Do you think that since the person was naturally born a male there is more of an advantage? What if a person was born as a man, decided to get implants and take estrogen for more feminine features and now wants to bodybuild in the Women's divisions.........
I think we as women have a hard enough time still trying to prove ourselves to male biased sports such as basketball, bodybuilding, soccer, softball, etc. There are more sports but these are the ones I can think of where there is a huge difference in pay between the men and women
Oh I have nothing against MTF or FTM. Just a question

Hi SMJ, I do not have anything for you regarding your bodybuilding question. However, I do have a comment regarding "male biased sports". I am a Title VIII baby and I played college and professional sports. I do not believe that sports are male biased. Sports are a business. The amount of money male sports draw compared to female sports is obscene. I am sure that when womens sports generate the type of revenue that mens sports generate, the pay will be comparable. Where is the bias?

my opinion ... if you were born a man ... compete with the men. If you were born a woman ... compete with the women. Seems too simple, huh?

Yep, they definately do seem to have the edge, even if they're taking estrogen. And precisely momto2 said.

I have a friend that went from male to female and there would be no way she would have been able to bodybuild. With all the hormone replacment and things going on, she would start crying no resone and gained alot of weight, she was a mess. I can see someone doing it if they were not fully into it .I can bet she had less testosteron that any natural women.

What about the women in pro-bodybuilding that take so much steroids that nolonger look like women they lose their hair and their private parts become male like?
Buy the way I dont have much of an opinion on it just put in my 2cents for the sake of argument.

The bias in in the lack of interest. Why should I be expect to show a passing interest in baseball when not one player on the major league teams is a woman? If you go to women's sports game you see mostly women there as fans. If you go to men sports you see mostly men and a significant number of women. Lots of women just give up and follow mens sports since they can't get their male friends or husbands interested.
The lack of interest is part of the whole cultural problem. Not enough people want to see women DOING something. Too much focus goes to subjective sports like gymnastics and figure skating since those sports hold women to a standard that is not that different from the standard in the culture at large.
The bias is cultural.
OK.
And to respond to the OP. I don't think MTF women in sports are a problem. As long as those women have lived as women for some time. I don't know, the issue is complex yet women as a group are very diverse. I don't see much wrong with it.

Yeah, not into the steroid thing either ... my views are a bit boring ... I love the differences between men and women. Blurring the lines between them is just not my cup of tea.

These threads remind me of the episode of House where the girl was genetically male (XY) and thus her features were enhanced, which explained why she was a model.
I don't really have a strong opinion either, but this is also something to think about.

Its because yall are boring. *Yes yes yes yes yes... when it comes down to sports that men also do, yes you are*. Hell in the female hockey league you cant even lay eachother out.
Sorry OP, just had to put future bird in her place.
