Is there a specific reason for this question?
Why not just eat both?
But in all seriousness, it depends when you lift and what have you eaten during the day.
If you lift at 6PM, and have already eaten 3 meals during the day, but not 4 hours or so, then the PostWorkout meal would be ideal.
However, if your lifting at 6PM, and you still have not eaten at all during the day, the pre-workout meal would probably be more beneficial.Last edited by nooblift; 05-27-2009 at 10:38 PM.

Pre workout. I'd much rather have the engery to push myself with heavier weights and have a great workout than to feel fatigued and lethargic.

By no means do i agree 100% with the article since it does promote a product but it makes plenty of sense.

i'd say post, just cause of recovery/nutrients.
pre would be for fuel/setting up recovery.
but you shouldn't relax on one and emphasize another, just do both...Forum Representative

tbh, no matter how great a PreWO meal is, I don't think it's going to let you set amazing PR's on that alone.
Not that PostWO meals will, but they are CRUCIAL in the recovery process.
If you eat well throughout the day, then IMHO your PreWO Meal won't affect you too much.

Preworkout. Fuels your workout, and gets some quality bcaa's in your bloodstream, as well as a host of other goodies.
Postworkout all you need is a dextrose and whey shake, Replenish glycogen stores, and get some fast digesting protein into you. if your counting that as a meal, if your on about the meal an hour or so after your workout, then its not really a post workout meal, just, another meal..
