What is a good drink/shake ?to take while working out
Can you take a high protein high calorie drink while your working out or should i just stick to good ole fashion water and some aminos . I also though about taking in about 40g of protein prior too the pump(work out). What would be the best to take while working out. Im looking to gain about another 20. Just get stupid with it .

A drink mixture that would include Waxy Maize, Arginine. and Creatine is ideal. In my opinion.

Look into Universal Intra-Aid. I've been logging it for 2 weeks, and it's pretty solid. Packed with aminos, etc. Logs in my sig, with info on the product and my thoughts.

Just have a light meal with some carbs about 45 minutes before workout and stick to water/intra-workout supp during the workout. If you take in high calories during your workout, your body will send blood to your stomach and digest the food. This will make your workout pretty crappy.

You want complex carbs to give you energy while you workout. The protein is for post workout muscle recovery.

I wouldn't take anything with protein/carbs intra-workout. Save those for post. Take BCAA/EAA. My personal choice is Purple Wraath by Controlled Labs.

Intra-Aid is the bodybuilder's workout drink. It's formula is easily digesting (very important when taking something intra-workout, you don't want something heavy on the stomach) and provides everything a bodybuilder would need for performance, recovery and anabolism.

Thanks man,,,,im trying to figure out what pre and post workout is the best...Im trying to put on about 20 to 30 reasonably. .Im a lil over 6'3 at 185 right now. Always heard flooding with aminos or BCAA'S is the key along with good timing with carbs and protein.
And needless to say the calories.
Any advice is welcomed here bro.

Both are excellent products, where Intra-Aid differs mainly is that it has carbs plus high quality hydro whey (8 grams) FFAA's (10 grams) & electrolytes. Carbs & protein/amino's makes it a complete intra-workout drink. There is research that shows this combo to really improve recovery & performance nevermind a ton of real world feedback from athletes that use this combo.

Amino's and nutrient timing will help you reach your goal however don't forget about overall calories. If you are looking to put muscle you will need to take in adequate calories throughout the day.

It's been Said but here are 3 Intra workout drinks you should look into Protein shakes are for either Morning..post workout, or before bed(Casein) preferably.

Below are some differences that seperate IntrAbolic from anything on the market:
1. On the LABEL, we list the 5 of hydrolysis and most importantly that our hydrolyzed whey supplies 70-80% di-and tripeptides. There is a huge range of hydrolysates out there and without knowing the % of hydrolysis or the % of di-and tripeptides, you can't know if you are benefiting from its unique characteristics.
2. You know how much leucine you get in IntrAbolic- 5 grams
3. You know how much beta-alanine you get 3.2grams
4. You have the flexibility of not having to have carbs or adding the type and quantity you want if you so choose.
There is nothing wrong with carbs, but we felt it much more important to allow the consumer to make the choice if they wanted to add them. If carbohydates made IntrAbolic more effective for weight lifters, which is WHO we designed IntrAbolic for, we would have added them. The fact is, research shows, they provide NO additional benefit on muscle protein synthesis than amino-acids alone. AND most the research shows, they will have little to NO impact on performance for exercise sessions lasting an hour or less. For workouts >1-1.5hours, yes they will be of benefit, but the research shows 30-60 GRAMS of carbohydrate to bring about these benefits, so if you want carbs, add 30-60g of carbs to IntrAbolic depending on the duration of exercise. 30grams per hour, is the usual recommendation
Alot of people don't want to take in 30-60 of carbs during their workout for many reasons, which again is why we leave the type of carbohydrate amount up to the consumer, as they are a cheap addition.

My intra workout drink is a custom made:
Part 1 - Amino acid - XTend or Purple Wraath depending on what I have
Part 2 - some carb - About a TBSP of gatorade powder
Part 3 - some creatine - 1 serving of creatine. I think creatine is best absorbed when consumed gradually so I take it during the workout.
Part 4 - Stims or Antioxidants - I sometimes throw in some Taurine if I want the energy boost and didn't take a pre WO stim, and usually throw in 1-2g Vitamin C, it is good for the pump
