I used creatine up until I was three weeks out, I would have 5g with my periworkout shake along with my blend of amino acids and carbs.

Edit: Just make sure you eat a lot of aspargus afterwards, some people hold water more than others!

I used creatine up to and including the day of the show. I think this is a personal issue as some feel it holds water subcutaneously...I feel it helps maintain muscle size only based on personal experience. Layne has also written alot on this topic, if you do a search in this forum you will find an article regarding creatine.

As a natural diuretic it helps rid the body of water retention, although like paul mentioned it comes down to how your body reacts.

Paul hit the nail on the head here. I think those that say it bloated them, had more to do with their diet. Ive had clients say this, and Ill just ask they try it my way while on my diet plan and they report its not bloating them this time, leading me to think something was off with their nutrition leading to it, and creatine gets blamed. It shuttles water INSIDE the muscle cell and creates more ATP definitely use it.

I use it up to stage time and day of show....
