Whats the secret to gaining muscle weight and losing fat weight at the same time? And can you be specific, dont just say "Diet".
Also, how can you tell if you only lost water-weight and not fat-weight?

My Opinion is that its far to hard to do this, Extremly.
Best bet is to "Bulk" Get the muscle and the fat then "Cut" loseing the fat keeping the muscle This process works and with good results
Or you can do it your way which my big brother does ......have a guess who is bigger."This is my body. And I can do whatever I want to it. I can push it. Study it. Tweak it. Listen to it. Everybody wants to know what I'm on. What am I on? I'm on my bike busting my ass six hours a day. What are you on?"

Your opinion is completely worthless because you're a skinny ass teen who has never trained anyone in your life. All the best trainers in the world do body recomps (losing fat and building muscle at the same time) rather than traditional bulks and cuts in most cases because they are the better option.

Your Opinion is also completely worthless becuase you don't have pics.
Aslo who the fu*k am i going to train at 16 ?
I was saying this because if your starting out then its a real pain in the ass getting this right and most cases people will give up becuase they can't get it right.
As you said "All the best trainers in the world do body recomps" becuase they know what they are doing, If a noob tries this they will most likely try and fail.Last edited by blazeftp; 05-26-2009 at 01:08 PM.

i don't understand why you are being a complete and utter fu*king ass*ole about this.
if it was easy then why the f*ck did reminisce32 make this thread ?....because people who are starting out don't know how to.
So your telling me you started bodybuilding with the most perfect diet that you could make good gains and lose fat at the same time?.... most likely you bulked and then after a while you done a cut then somewhere down the line you had enough experience to make a diet with the right amount of cals, protein, carbs, fats to make gains and lose bodyfat% at the same time.Last edited by blazeftp; 05-26-2009 at 01:28 PM.

I do the bulk and cut thing, but i will say its really hard to cut once you bulk (if you want to maintain muscle also). That takes a lot of discipline.
The best way to gain muscle and not bulk at the same time is to eat just slightly above the calories you need in a day (find a calorie calculator somewhere online). Get your calories properly though...for example all whole grain products and meats like chicken and fish and protein shakes. Eat vegetables as your carb sources later at night. Also incorporate cardio into your training.
Work your major muscle groups with a program such as rippetoes and you should get bigger and stronger, but not get a bulky look. Don't listen to anyone that talks about rep ranges and how more reps make you more defined and low reps make you blocky also...

He made a thread about it because stupid ass teenage gurus that dominate this place have often repeated the myth that you can't build muscle and lose fat at the same time and he actually takes this site seriously and not as the joke it is. He must have heard somewhere from somewhere reputable that it is entirely possible to do just that.
I didn't need to lose any fat when I started lifting because I had no fat to lose (and barely any muscle to lift with, either). I of course made nutrition mistakes (too much full fat milk and pasta) and put on more fat than I wished to (that was when I still believed that you needed to put on fat when you bulk). The last while I've been recomping, which is actually very easy for me because I'm a naturally lean individual, although I'm not nearly anal enough about nutrition to get the same kind of excellent results others have got.
Nonsense. You can build muscle whilst on a caloric deficit. 1) It's much much much harder than when not on a caloric deficit and 2) you need to be really really really anal about your nutrition: timings to the nearest second and macros to the nearest milligram.

I think you have read my post wrong.
What i was saying was .....
Its hard for people starting out to do this most try and fail.
I was also saying he should try the bulk,Cut.
Once he gets to know his foods and understand nutrition he then can make a good diet incorporating all he has learned from his bulk and cut into it.
Making a diet that can make him gain muscle and lose fat at the same time."This is my body. And I can do whatever I want to it. I can push it. Study it. Tweak it. Listen to it. Everybody wants to know what I'm on. What am I on? I'm on my bike busting my ass six hours a day. What are you on?"

But most people do becuse the can't be botherd putting in the time and effort to do so.
If you look about the fourms you see people comming in asking "How do i get a 6 pack" a simple google search would have done be they can't be botherd.
On a side note if it wasn't for these fourms and tnation i would still be eating 2000cals and wondering why i wasn't getting big."This is my body. And I can do whatever I want to it. I can push it. And such people are lazy *******s and doomed to failure before they even start. Although I do feel sorry for teens because most sources out there are absolute crap (here, the bodybuilding magazines, etc.) so they'll probably still fail. Hence why there are so many skinny people at gyms who have been going for years.

true and thats why i go on here i help out noobs.
I understand nutrition and routine and have been gaining a good amount of weight and muscle while keeping my bodyfat low.
I might not be an expert but understand the basics well enought to share with other that have fallen into the trap where the think doing 5lb dumbell curls and doing 100 crunch and taking celltec will turn them into ronny colman ."This is my body. And I can do whatever I want to it. I can push it. Study it. Tweak it. Listen to it. Everybody wants to know what I'm on. What am I on? I'm on my bike busting my ass six hours a day. I think a pretty good way to cut while not hurting your muscle is to do a nice interval running program, it kills you after going a mile or two max. You don't even really have to do it that much, 2-3 times a week, with some extra protein on those days so u don't burn ur muscle you can cut pretty nicely i think. I'm trying to start it now while trying to gain a bit of mass with a focus on strength. the great thing about interval running is that is really kills you after only running a relatively short distance. anybody else try this? im kinda making assumption because i just started but it seems pretty logical, i have a bit of college bio under my belt so ive got a bit of an idea..
