    Trainers for squatting + Deadlifting

At the minute I use my trainers just and I'm thinking this may hinder my squat and deadlift?
I can't afford at the minute to get proper weight lifting shoes so would the following be better than the trainers I'm using at the minute?

They are low to the ground basically with no cushion.

For those Americans who don't know what trainers are, they are tennis shoes.

I'm no expert, but I think that basically any shoes without cushioning will be better for those heavy lifts than running/basketball shoes. I'm read posts saying that it's better to do it even with something like converse, or even barefoot.

Yeah the shoes in the picture would be fine. Or go bare foot if you workout at home.
To guys starting out - please understand: when you can deadlift 450lb for 10 reps your back, hamstrings & traps will reflect THAT not which program you used to get there. When you can curl 150 for 10, your biceps will reflect THAT, not which program, rep range or method you used to get there. There is no voodoo independent of poundage progression, just faster and slower ways of getting to your next pit stop.

It's better to use shoes with no cushioning system. This is because when you squat in them it's like squatting in mud and can throw off your balance and stability. For the deadlift, the lower the shoes to the ground, the better leverage you have.

oh lawd. because when you have all that cushion in the back of the shoe, your foot angle is inclined and you have a harder time putting the weight on your heels.

also, the cushion doesnt give you a firm base. instead of solid, its, well, squishy.

    no

inclined angle is not the issue. the soft base makes you unstable and doesnt allow you to transfer as much force through your feet.

an inclined angle is desired for some weightlifters since a lifter can keep heels on the ground and get lower. you have an easier tome putting weight on your heels in solid-soled shoes with raised heels than with lower heels.
