    How important are carbs POST-WORKOUT?

Are they THAT important that they must be taken after workouts?

Replaces the glycogen in the muscles that have been lost during a workout. With me its 2 scoops whey immediately post workout. Then for my meal 1 hour later i make sure i have a hearty meal with alot of carbs. Yesterday was chicken breast with LARGE serving of rice and lots of veggies.

    Very important.

Take a blend of high GI and low GI carbs, e.g. apple juice and oats (they don't have to be actually blended together, just take both post WO).

raisins are great, lots of carbs and they lower the acidity of your body which is ideal for new muscle to be made.

Yes, I like to take rice cakes and honey with some kind of fruit juice. (60-70g of carbs)

It's actually that important. Taking in carbs immediately after a workout simple replaces the glycogen in our muscles. Taking in carbs will replenish your glycogen supplies and thus give you energy back. However, we are not marathon runners and we are not really concerned with our energy levels, we are only concerned about protein synthesis, which is not affected greatly by muscle glycogen levels.

Pretty much this. The carbohydrates after the lift are less important than those you can get before and during the workout.

Personally, I have a large protein shake before I lift and a small one afterwards. The large drink has carbs in it while the small one has almost none.

theoretically carbs+protein postworkout shows better results than protein alone. fats+carbs+protein shows the best of all. that was probably in a fasted state though.

doesnt seem like it would apply if you eat a preworkout meal(or any meal within a couple hours of training). you would most likely still be digesting that meal and even getting protein postworkout wouldnt matter. personally, i still eat a postworkout meal, but it is definitely over stressed by a lot of people.

How about when your cutting. Like say I just lifted and did HIIT, should I still be consuming carbs when my goal is to lose weight?

I usually mix oats and honey with my protien shake for post workout meal.

When you're cutting, you just need a calorie deficit.

eeh....I just take trauben zucker and mix it with pear juice.
Tastes damn good and 95g carbs per 100g-s.
It's helluva cheap to buy too, one package of 500grams costs like 1$

A postworkout shake of carbs and protein only shows better muscular results if leucine is present in the shake. If not than there is really no difference between a protein and carb shake vs. a protein shake.
