Ok here's my plan to lose the Pounds :D
Age-19
Weight-214 Pounds
Height- 5'9
BMR- 2163
I read that to lose a pound of fat a day you gotta burn 3,500 cals/day under ur BMR, and this is the first time i seen this so i was kinda excited. ANYWAYS that's alot to lose for me so i decided to try to lose a half a pound a day, which i would have to lose 1750cals under my BMR, i think this is possible for me to do. I figure i'm going to be extreamly hungry cuz i usually eat around 2500 cals a day and burn around 800-1000 cals in my workouts.
So i was thinking what would a good meal supresent be? that isn't that high in price.
What do u guys think???

Eat 7 meals a day and you'll never be hungry.
When I was 200+lbs, I was eating between 2200-2400 calories a day in 7 meals. I was losing 1.5lbs per week.
I worked out in the morning so my day went like this:
prework meal
workout (MWF weights 1hr, T,TH,SAT - HIIT cardio 20 mins)
postworkout meal
morning snack
lunch
afternoon snack
dinner
bed time snack.(depending on remaining calories)
I was never stuffed, but never hungry. When I got to 195 or so, the weight loss slowed down. I cut out my morning and afternoon snacks and doubled up a couple of protein shakes to increase my protein to make up for the lost meals. I'm back to losing 1.5lbs/week, but NOW I'M HUNGRY. LOL.
Good luck

Ok, i did my plan like i said i would (it's only been 1 day) i ended up burning quite a bit on my cardio like 1700. and i acually ate 1900 cals so i had cals to spair. i weighed my self the day after and i lost 2 pounds. hopefully the weight stays off. gonna keep this diet up for about a week and see how it goes. and if it goes as good as i think it's going to go then i'll keep doing it untill i reach my desired weight.
just thought i'd give a little update on how things have been going

Up your calories. I am telling you that you don't want to burn that much under your BMR because you WILL plateau and possibly damage your metabolism. The correct deficit for long term fat loss is ~500, not 1700. You will lose weight, but you'll be nothing but gobs of loose skin and bone by the time you are finished, not to mention suffering from anorexia and malnutrition if you stay on the road you're going down right now.

Don't try to lose a half pound a day! That's crazy talk man. You should be aiming for 1-2lbs a week, depending on how overweight you are now. If you lose a half pound a day, you will have a ton of extra skin when you finally do lose it, and it is plain unhealthy to lose that much weight. Losing weight isn't just time line thing, you have to change you whole lifestyle.

I'm 277 LBS, and my BMR with activity rate is 3900, that means I would have to eat like 400 calories a day. I think for you to burn a pound a day would wouldn't be able to eat anything, and still have to do cardio. And that is definetley not recommended, you would burn all your muscle AND end up in the hospital in a matter of days. And you got kinda excited that it is 3500, do you know how much cardio/weight lifting you would have to do to burn 3500 calories a day?
One of the main points of losing weight is that you do NOT want to starve yourself. Your body will go into starvation mode and will hold onto EVERYTHING it can, that is not what you want to do. You need to do some serious reading before you do damage to yourself.

LOL, i'm not starving, i'm eating my BMR which is 2163...but i'm burning 1700 calories on my cardio (not 3500 i never said i was going to try to burn that amount). i dont see the problem. i'm just doing hardcore working out, i lift weights (2-3 muscles a day) i take my weekly two days of break, (wensday, and sunday) and eat close to my body weight in protien. so acually i think i'm doing good (not loseing any lean muscle mass). the only thing that has my consern is the loose skin deal. but i weighed 320 pounds so i was kinda expecting it... and i know it's a life style change i've been living the life style for about a year and a half. i'm just trying somthing new you know? a little experiment with my body.

If you eat under 1000 calories of your adjusted bmr you will most likely go into starvation mode. You'll turn muscle into carbs and lose muscle and fat. You'll lose tons of weight and not be able to pick up a pin.

losing more than 2-3 pounds per week is not good.. you will def. be losing lots of muscle mass if you do this.. not only that but you will want to kill yourself from being so hungry... 3500 cals is a pound, yes .. but you can just subtract that from your maintanance... if your maintanance was 3500 a day then thats awesome but not to many people have that.. so you prob under 3500... which means you would have to eat negative calories to achieve 1lb a day... yea kinda impossible.. listen to what some of the other people have said.. make a deficit of about 500... then if you want you can do cardio to make the deficit bigger.. but just try to eat around 2000 calories a day.. or 2500 .. if your losing weight then keep on doing it.. dont weigh yourself every day.. just do it once a week ..

I don't think he's actually burning 1700 calories a day in cardio, and there is no way he's burning 1.5lbs a day. He would have to literally eat nothing to come close to that, on top of a ton of activity. He's not going to reach that goal by eating 1900 calories a day.
Not to say he's not losing weight, but what he says doesn't measure up with what his original goals are.

1700 calories a day? How are you burning that much? What kind of cardio is that? Assuming you are not in the best shape how can you sustain such long periods of working out? E.g. A heavy run at around 9mph for an hr(which any non-athlete runner would fail before passing the 25 minute mark at most) could maybe reach 1400. An average run @ 6.5 mph for an hour could burn around 900 calories.

I was doubting the 1700 calories too, but judging from his other posts, he would be willing to walk on a treadmill for 3 hours "Biggest Loser" style.

I'm all for dedication, but human limitation can be a great reality-check. Hell, I want to lose 15lbs of bodyfat overnight. That's just not going to happen.
