New to bb.com, a little about myself.
Ya I know its pretty lame to have my first thread on this site be about me but... I thought it would be the easiest way of getting involved and seeing if there are any people I know in these forums.
My name is Ian Dawe, I am a 2-1 pro MMA fighter currently residing in Toronto, Ontario Canada... Here are a few play-by-plays of my fights courtesy of sherdog and top mma news.
Fight # 1 - 1st round TKO of Chris Myra
"Ian Dawe showed superior wrestling in his win over Chris Myra. A back-and-forth bout, Dawe was the aggressor early with a slam, and advancing position to the mount. However, Myra was able to escape the pounding with a nice sweep that allowed for him to take top position. After both men scrambled to their feet, Dawe delivering some knees from the clinch, punctuated by referee Ken Wood calling for a doctor's check, which resulted in a cut stoppage win for Dawe."
Fight # 2 - 1st round KO of Todd Wood.
"In what can only be described as an all-out war, Ian Dawe and Todd Wood (Pictures) fought arguably the most intense back-and-forth action of the night during the four-plus minutes they were in the ring.
The two went toe-to-toe and exchanged takedowns and dominant positions. At one stage in the contest, Wood had Dawe in a tight keylock that bent his arm 180 degrees, but miraculously Dawe freed himself. Back on the feet again, Dawe and Wood swung with reckless abandon. Dawe eventually connected and Wood crashed to the canvas 4:36 into the first round, launching the crowd into a frenzy."
Fight # 3 - 3rd Round stoppage loss to Remi Morvan
This was the most exciting fight on the card, filled with back and forth action with both fighters getting caught by the other in submissions throughout the fight. Ian had Remi?s back a number of times, and Remi had Ian in a deep armbar earlier in the fight, as well as a few lower body submissions. Ian fought through and escaped all. Ian gained dominant position on the ground and was landing some hard shots, the referee looked close to stepping in and halting the action, but the round ended and Remi needed a hand from his corner getting back to the stool. The third round starts and Ian swings big and over commits and gets clinched and taken down. He ended up getting caught in a rear naked choke, but was able to defend. Remi had one arm sunk in and the referee stopped the fight. Dawe wasn?t impressed and wasn?t happy with the referees bad call, but took it like a champ, and was gracious in his unjust defeat.
Not that?s it?s any excuse but this was Ian?s third opponent in a week, in 3 different weight classes. Big kudos to both guys for taking the fight on a days notice. Definitely looking forward to seeing both these fighters back in the ring soon.
HOPE TO GET BETTER ACQUAINTED WITH YOU GUYS!
JYD

My first two fights were at 145. I am relatively small for that weight class and made the move to 135 for my last fight but my opponent dropped out (two of them) and I took a last minute fight at the weigh ins that ended up being at 145lbs.
I am a 135er through and through but wont turn down a good match up at 145.
I have trained all over. Right now I am in the Toronto area bouncing around between a number of gyms. Xtreme Couture in Etobicoke and Iron Tiger Muay Thai in Hamilton Ontario are my primary gyms right now.

I rushed him and caught him flush on the temple with a titanic right hand he was out cold, convulsing on the floor like an infantile retard." -Mike Tyson

I have never been to Kombat Arts but have trained a couple times at Toronto BJJ. Great gym with a lot of talent and $ behind them.

I have no idea what the colours mean or how this all works but... I am sure it can be dealt with.

I train at Kombat Arts. It's like a 10 minute drive from where i live and i like the instructors.
Toronto BJJ is way too far, same with Xtreme couture.

Right on... Traffic is terrible in the GTA and I spend a lot of hours traveling to gyms in the area but it is definitely worth it. If you get a chance the pro classes at Xtreme Couture are some of most greuling/best instruction I have ever had. They are run by Nick Johnson (fomer GSP wrestling coach and multi-time/nation wrestling champion)... there are lots of solid gyms in the area for sure.

I don't really have a "TOP 5" list but... I love watching competitive, high intensity fights. Having said that I'd say these guys consistently put on the best shows.
1 - Evan Tanner.
2 - Sean Sherk.
3 - Kevin Randleman.
4 - Mike Brown.
5 - Scott Smith.
