How fast do you go through a 5lb tub of whey?
I ordered 10lbs of Whey on 4/15/2009 and I've already gone through 6.5lbs of it. I take 3 scoops a day as follows: Pre-WO, Post-WO, 1 more in a protein brownie at night (to satisfy dessert craving and meet daily protein requirements)
Is 3 scoops too much per day?

I'd say 3 servings a day is the maximum. Personally, I use 1-1.5 scoops post workout. I try to get the rest of my protein from whole foods like chicken, tuna, cottage cheese, etc. Once in a while I have an extra scoop if I don't get enough protein from whole foods.. My 5lbs lasts 2-3 months I think...

i'm about a 5lb a month guy. 1.5 in the morning with oatmeal, one pre, 1.5 post. so i'm at four.
i also do the scoop of casein at night, so i do a lot of the protein supplement (doh!). i am however a hard gainer, and it helps me keep my cals up.
still, remember that food>supplements.

Protein usage
It sounds like it's not an issue as far as your dieting goes, but maybe a bit pricey? I wish I could afford to eat nothing but whey all day-JK-One 5 lb. tub lasts me about 6-8 weeks, but that's only using 1 scoop 2 times a day.

At one scoop post workout and working out 3 days/week... 5 lbs lasts me a long damn time. Whey should be used as a supplement, not as a pure food source. I use it after my workout because I'm usually pretty tired and don't feel like putting any food together. Sometimes I'll make a sauce out of it to drizzle on sweet potatoes or something. That's the extent.

On the average weekday i go through 4 scoops a day (sometimes 5 if I decide to take a scoop pre-workout), 2 in the morning for a mid-morning snack and 2 post workout. Obviously I don't take this much on days off of lifting, but I'm on a 6 day routine right now.
I'd say it lasts me anywhere on average from 25-30 days. It is usually all used up in a month. This may seem like a lot but i take in around 300g of protein a day, so ~80grams from supplements accounts for less than 30% of my actual intake.

To be totally honest....5lbs = less than a month. It's a very cheap source of quality calories when coupled with oats and potatoes and milk and egg and other cheap foods. I go from 1 scoop a day to 8 scoops a day depending on how much $$ I have to throw at whole foods. And yes I buy cheap cheap whey. bodybuilding.com FTW!

I used to take 1-3 scoops a day but I find that I didn't really need the extra protein from my whey powders as I get enough from my daily food sources. Although I do sometimes use 1 scoop of whey to make a dessert. So a 5lb tub will last me 2+ months

On training days I have 8 meals, meal one is whey and oats, meal 3 (workout) i take 20gm whey before and 20 after the another 20gm 30min later. meal 5 is oats and whey, and i have a night shake beside my bed with casien.
On non training days, I only have protien shake twice, whey in the morning and casien at night...BUT to answer your question, NO, 3 scoops is okay in one day. But whole food are a lot better. I just tend to like whey around my workout more

It's amazing to me that some people talk about eating pop tarts, ice cream, etc "as long as it fits into your macros", yet when it comes to whey, it's nearly off limits. I consider whey a protein-rich food, not a supplement. I don't really get the aversion to using whey as a good protein source, even as a primary one. Gram for gram, it's the least expensive source of protein that can be found.
That said, I use 2-4 scoops per day. It's not my primary source of protein but I wouldn't freak out on myself if it were.

Cheap whey from where? PM me. I don't think you're allowed to openly advertise websites other than BB.COM on the main site.
