Squats 3 days a week?
Hey there guys. I have truly fell in love with squats, Current 1 rep max is 365lbs. I would like to know if going 3 squat days a week is ok on the joints or no. I think I posted a thread about this a year or so ago but can't find it. Mon,wed, friday?
Current routine:
Warm up (leg extensions, stretch) 3 sets
Squat 5 sets (2 are warm ups) 10 reps
Sissy squats 4 sets (1 warm up) 12
Hamstring curls 3 x 12
Standing hammy curls 3 x 12
Leg press 4 x 10 (optional)

As said above, try any of the 5x5 variants. If you don't choose to use a 5x5 program or anyone out there, ditch the accessory work like leg extensions and leg curls.

Why the sissy squats? I could see a set as a real light warm up but...eh.

I do have a question about this, I did the 5x5 for several months and it works well but what if you get into the 500-600 pound squats? Can you still move that kind of weight or does your CNS get shot?

It would likely be shot. There are people who can't recover from 5x5 even with smaller weights

At that high weight I don't think you can do it three times a week. The good folks at Westside box squat twice a week with an insane amount of weight, but they say that it's easier to recover from box squats than from regular squats.

i just tried doing the russian squat routine. its six weeks of squatting 3 days a week. i only made it thru the 1st workout of the 4th week. my hips were pretty beat up. but i think i may have put 15-20 lbs on my squat. i took about 10 dasy off and came back. i felt really strong.
