    Drinking Alcohol after a workout???

I barely ever drink, but tonight I was invited to webster hall in nyc, a club for those that dont know, and am about to go do my back and tri's at the gym, then probably go out with the guys to this club....problem is.....I know im gonna drink because I dont dance unless im crunked.....so.....my question is, how bad is it to drink alcohol after a workout?

just go you pansy and have some mild self restraint and nurse it. Shots arent as bad as beer either.

Not that I can heed my own advice cause I cave every time...

You'll just waste your time at the gym, maybe if you do some HIIT cardio instead of your normal workout you could minimize the damage.

IMO, drinking just on weekends isn't all that bad for gains, though it does some damage, but I NEVER drink on day that I lift, so that's why I take Friday and Saturday off from lifting. Alcohol will screw up the recovery process, so it's not a good idea to go out drinking on a day when you lifted. Just suck it up and have a good time tonight, but in the future plan your workouts so you don't drink the same day you lift.

    enjoy

drinking and working out. when i lived in england my life revolved around the pub, and there is no way i could train the next day after a session. my advice would be if you have not got a competition looming, don't get out with the lads much anyway have a couple of days off training, forget about the gym and enjoy yourself. have a few beers a good laugh, a nice rest the next day. it will do you good. if you get lucky and you have had a few beers though get a second opinion from one of your mates. its hell sneaking out of a house at five in the morning then realising you haven't got a clue where you are no money in your pocket, and the supermodel you took home amazingly transformed overnight so you really can't go back and knock on her door. and you were bothered wether to train or not. good luck mate.

Drinking on a hangover day. I don't lift Fridays or Saturdays (but I may do cardio) and never drink during the week, but I work out on Sundays. Of course it's best drink without getting hung over the next day. I know how to drink so I get a good buzz going but will not be hung over the next day.

alcohol completely stops protein synthesis, so until you have all the alcohol you drank cleared out of your body, FORGET ABOUT NEW MUSCLE.

well, it is not advisable to drink alcohol at any time whether, before pre-workout or post workout, it could damage your liver and organs and stop protein synthesis.

Go and get crunk brah, you only live once so have no regrets when you on your death bed.

My understanding was that MPS is slowed down with alcohol consumption, not stopped as claimed above. Can any regulars confirm?
