    Floor press????

if i added floor press to my routine; obviously replacing the BB bench press.. what are the added benefits?

im really focusing more on explosiveness/strength; so ive come across this exercise.

    any impute would be great

    thanks!

shirted benchers use it to strengthen their bench since they don't have to worry about off the chest as much

if you're using it to overload your triceps, they are a great exercise.

but don't expect it to completely replace the bench press especially for chest development. use it as a supplement to flat db, incline db and bb presses, not a replacement.

I love floor presses. You can't lift your ass up in the air like you can when you're on a bench, so there's no leg drive. Really makes the chest work hard.

if you're lifting your ass up off the bench, you need to reevaluate your form

chest? floor presses are just the top end of a bench press - mostly triceps.

I understand that. That's why floor presses are great because they keep you from cheating.

And I use DB floor presses as a finisher on chest days. I know the ROM caters more to triceps but I like it for chest as well.

    BB floor press x4
    DB incline press x4
    Flat bench flies x3
    incline clapping push ups x3

i'd put the incline db presses first

    why clapping pushups?

I found that an explosive exercise done before a lift helps improve the lift. For example high pulls before deadlifts. Or jerks before overhead presses. Maybe the logic is the same here, but of course he should do the clapping pushups first.

yes, clapping push ups for explosiveness.

so it would be better to include plyos/ explosiveness first?

I'm not sure you'd have enough left in you for explosive lifts after performing several heavy sets.

Why not just do heavy floor presses on your tricep day instead of chest. This is more logical to me and has given me pretty good results.
