    Protein Question

I've been lifting for about 6 months coming up and have really been steady with keeping on track. The most off day's I've took in a row is two. But I've been thinking, over the weekend on my rest days, should I be taking protein to help recover still? Not only this, but tomorrow I'm going in for surgery and I'll be out for about a week, should I not take any protein for that time, or should I keep going, knowing I'll be able to get back into it. I'm pretty much addicted at this point. Thanks for any input you can give

Keep everything going until you need to adjust. after your procedure, you will prob be limited to what you can do, so your caloric intake would need to be less. but when you get back into the swing, it depends on how many rest days you have as to how you adjust your intake. if you have only 1 rest day, i would say keep your intake the same.

Depending on your overall goal, it would be best to stay on the protein to maintain your daily required macro-nutrient needs. If you are looking to build and maintain lean muscle mass, I recommend staying on the protein, but keep your overall calories in check. Consumption of protein is not only a good source of nutrition, it gives you body a positive nitrogen balance, ultimately enabling you to burn fat stores as energy. Since you will be off for about a week, keeping on the protein will enable you to maintain the appropriate nutrition and minimize the set back of being off. Good luck with everything!
