There's dozens of Marcy, Golds, Nautilus, Body-Solid, Tuff-Stuff etc benches at any given time for $50-$150.....
And then there's this guy trying to sell this for like 2 months same price.

If you aren't useless in being handy? How many pads have you built bro? Do you own a table saw? Have you ever researched foam ILD and compression? Have you priced out the proper foam and the vinyl? It's called Naugahyde by the way. Do you want a cheesy pad with folded vinyl or a real pad with real foam and a crown stitched into the vinyl like any decent commercial piece. How many pieces of large equipment have you painted?
Not trying to be rude, I'm just saying that until you actually sit down and plan on doing it, you'll underestimate the cost of materials and severely underestimate the time in not only locating and obtaining materials, but doing the actual work too. Also you're really overestimating the value of these when fixed up.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No. 21

Exactly. Top of the line dedicated benches like Nautilus and Hammer in nice shape go for $200-$300 here. No name full welded dedicated benches for $50-$100. Most casual home gym people seem to want the bench that doubles as a squat rack or has a built in lat pull.
All these have been posted for weeks
Welded flat bench $20
Welded heavy duty flat bench $30
Paramount commercial incline bench-$140

Looks like the lot of it would go for about tree-fidy to 500..."I heard that broken Ivanko revolvers can cure cancer... too bad no ones managed to break one." ProtienandIron

Not craigslist but couldn't resist posting this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DUMBBELL-W...item58a31080eb
This fantastic bench has a max rating of 120kg, which means if I press anything more than the bar it will crumble. Nice. It says 17 people bought it, can't believe there are 17 people that are so stupid

well i have the tools to build them starting from tube steel, flat bar, and tread plate like those are made of. new steel of that thickness alone would be much more than what the pair costs.
if you have the room for a non-adjustable bench, all of these homemade welded benches are well worth the price. half of them even have holes in the plates on the bottom of the legs for anchors. if you have the room, and a hammer drill, you can put them in place and never have to worry about them. fraction of the price of adjustable benches of similar stability.
i thought this stuff was for a home gym. why would you compare stitching and painting for them to something you'd have in a commercial gym? paint...hit them with a wire wheel and then spray them with a 5 dollar can of grey primer.
buy yeah i'm just a bro who doesn't stitch fake leather to plywood. i didn't know this thread was about acquiring equipment for your local la fitness.semper fidelis 04-08 0311

Many (most?) of us in this section have made sizeable investments of both time and money in aquiring quality commercial equipment, and we take pride in our gyms. If you choose to use (or spend money on) equipment that looks like it was discarded by the local penitentiary, that's on you."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

$3300 barbell...firm: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/sgd/4709070796.html
And I don't know anyone in their right mind who would have a deadlift comp with a 33mm bar.
Plus, I could buy a stainless steel Iron Wolfe Super Bench Bar, a Mastodon Squat Bar, and a Texas Deadlift Bar and have tons of cash left over. For $4100, you could have two of each.Garage Gym Owner

You were the one so impressed with the welded frame........and that = commercial so???. If you think the frame is commercial quality why put a crappy pad on it? As I was saying and like I showed in what I posted, actual LA FItness quality piece (Life Fitness, Cybex, Nautilus, Hammer) would go for less than the $500 you estimated those to be worth.
If you don't want commercial grade equipment for your home gym then why are you concerned with a welded bench? Go get yourself Marcy, Weider, or Golds bench and be happy.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No. 21

You have to watch the video. I have NO idea what's going on there, but Sherm should probably sue for patent infringement. List price is $3500... great deal for a Made in USA product!USAPL RAW Competitor
